Bride To Be Not Me (Janice and Simon)

Chapter 185

Simon thought that Janice's accident was somehow connected to Heidi.

Edward walked down the steps and told the bodyguards, "Take Heidi and Amelia to Stanmore Drive."

Edward owned a villa on Stanmore Drive, which served as his other residence.

Without a word, the bodyguards lifted the unconscious Amelia while Heidi's screams and struggles did nothing to stop them.

Heidi shouted all the way, "It wasn't me! It was all Amelia! You can't do this-it's illegal!"

One of the bodyguards glanced at her. "You've known Mr. Moore since childhood. You have a murder suspect around you, so he's bringing you to his place for your safety. You should be grateful, Ms. Ryan."

"Y-You-" Heidi stammered. She was left speechless. She just hoped Gregory and Emma would find her soon.

Everything that happened was completely unexpected. Heidi had helped Amelia find a driver but never thought she would actually have the guts to commit murder, let alone act so quickly.

Heidi had been planning to find a chance to ruin Janice's hand and then blame it on Amelia. She never expected Amelia to betray her so easily. What a backstabbing coward.

After bringing Heidi and Amelia to the villa on Stanmore Drive, Edward stayed inside. The first floor of the villa was completely dark, with only the faint glow of distant buildings visible outside.noveldrama

Four bodyguards stood watch at the door, and two more stood guard outside. There was no way for Heidi and Amelia to escape.

Amelia slowly regained consciousness. When she saw Edward, she instinctively shrank back, huddling against the wall in silence.

Edward was reading a message from Matilda. He didn't dare listen to the voice message, so he read the text instead.

Matilda told him that Janice's condition had stabilized for the time being, but she still needed further observation.

Edward leaned against the glass, letting out a sigh of relief. Across from the villa, Greenfield City Medical Center stood in the distance. He could see it clearly. Now that Janice was stable, he could finally go to see her.

He turned to find Heidi opening her mouth, about to speak. But he walked past her without a word and left.

A few of the bodyguards stayed there, their eyes fixed on Amelia and Heidi, silent and unmoving.

The next day, Calvin woke up.

"Calvin!" Barbara and Robert exclaimed. They had stayed at the hospital, never leaving his side.

Calvin's first thought was of Janice. He asked urgently, "How's Janice?" He remembered being hit by the car and ending up on top of her.

Barbara tried to answer but remained silent.

In the days that followed, Jacob had been focused on signing consent forms, Harrison had been taking care of both Calvin's and Janice's needs, and Matilda had been

managing the company.

Meanwhile, Edward handled all updates on Janice's condition, staying in constant communication with the doctors.

For five whole days, Edward barely slept, catching only a few hours here and there. When he stood up, his legs felt weak. He couldn't rest easy with Janice still unconscious.

Seeing Edward's exhaustion, Jacob finally spoke up. "Mr. Moore, you need to get some rest."

Edward hadn't left Janice's side, except to discuss her condition with the hospital.director. He ate even less, sometimes going a whole day without food. Despite Edward's lack of visible emotion, Jacob could sense his deep worry for Janice.

Edward didn't respond. With a resigned sigh, Jacob left him to his thoughts.

Edward sat silently in the hallway. The quiet was suffocating.

Just then, a sudden beeping sound broke the silence.

A nurse rushed over. "Ms. Smith is waking up!"

Edward stood up instantly. His eyes were fixed on the doctors and nurses as they examined the newly awakened Janice.

About half an hour later, Janice was moved to a regular ward. She was going to be okay.

The ward was crowded. Janice's gaze kept searching until she finally saw Edward, who was the last to enter. His eyes were red, and he looked disheveled and in bad shape.

Janice moved her arm slightly.

Edward walked over, bent down, and took her hand, forcing a small smile. "You're awake," he said softly.

Janice's heart ached more than her injured lungs at the sight of what she thought were tears in Edward's eyes.

At this moment, Gregory and Emma appeared at the doorway of the ward, but the bodyguards immediately blocked their way.

Emma pleaded with Edward from behind the bodyguards, "Mr. Moore, please forgive Heidi! She was just fooled by Amelia. She would never have the guts to commit murder. Amelia's the one who planned everything."
