Encore of the Avenging Muse (Sylvia and Rupert)

Chapter 279

"What? You thought Bridget would save you? Freya, let me tell you something. You actually had a chance to escape yesterday."

"What... what do you mean? Explain it to me!" Freya grabbed Sylvia's arm and shook it violently.

Sylvia yanked her arm free and said coldly, "First chance, I refused to let you take the key card, but you were too eager for a shortcut, so you sneaked it away."

"Second, Bridget was right in front of me, and she didn't even notice you were gone. If she cared about you even a little bit, she would have noticed something was wrong and had time to stop you."noveldrama

"Third, my room wasn't isolated. There were guests on either side. All you had to do was shout, and someone would come to your rescue. But you were too scared of being discovered as not me, so you kept quiet."

"Freya, isn't this the bed you made for yourself?"

Hearing this, Freya's eyes, once red with anger, turned ashen, and she collapsed onto the ground like a fallen autumn leaf.

Sylvia turned her back.

Behind her, Freya spoke with a bitter edge, "I used to think we were the same. I was the one my parents didn't love, and you were the stepchild. But when your mom and stepdad came to school, I realized how wrong I was.”

Sylvia frowned at that. Naomi and Edwin Garcia only appeared at school together to help her with her bags at the end of the term. Even then, she would always remind Naomi to dress modestly.

She didn't want anyone gossiping about her background.

So, nobody at school knew about her connection to Edwin; they only knew her mom had remarried.

Maybe that's why people felt sorry for her when they saw her working part-time jobs.

But what was wrong with that?

Freya lamented, "They're so good to you. Your mom may complain, but she climbs up and down to tidy up your dorm with such care."

"And your stepdad, every time he comes to pick you up, he brings snacks and buys you new clothes. I later found out even the simplest dress he bought you cost a small fortune."

"Why does your mom, who remarried, still care so much about you? Why does your stepdad, who isn't even your real dad, buy you all these things?"

"Why do my parents only ever call me a burden? I've grown up wearing hand-me- downs from relatives and eating leftover snacks my brother didn't want."

"So when just mentioned you had a crush and Bridget gave me money, I immediately bought new clothes and had a big meal. Do you know

what that felt like? It was freeing, but also not enough."

"I deserve more. You already have so much, why couldn't you just keep being deceived?"

Freya stared at Sylvia, her eyes wide, as if she might leap at Sylvia's throat any second.

Sylvia shivered and signaled to the security guard nearby.

She looked at Freya, "You sold me out to satisfy your own desires? Well, Freya, how does it feel when your parents sold you out and took Mr. Carmen's money for the own desires?"

Freya turned pale instantly.

So, she knew how it felt, didn't she?

"Sylvia, I'll kill you!"

As she lunged at Sylvia, the security guard, who had been ready, pinned her down.

Freya screamed defiantly, "Sylvia, I won't let you get away! I'll drag you down to hell with me!"

"Freya, instead of dragging me to hell, maybe think about how to escape that hellhole you call home. If I were you, I'd hang on to anyone who could help."

With that final piece of advice, Sylvia walked away without looking back. Freya, you better survive, and then sink your teeth into Bridget...
