Chapter 293
Had the Fulton family fallen into disarray?
On the other side, Edith wasn't exactly in tears but wore a troubled expression. Without Shane's constant persuasion, she would have gone to Xavier or Lily to Demand answers by now. Everyone had expected Xavier to handle things quickly, but there was still no word after so many days.
"We're not getting a divorce," Xavier said fimnly
Shane froze momentarily, and even Tamara, sitting at the desk, lifted her head to look at Xavier. His words were unexpected.
"So, have you and Lily talked things through? shane asked,
Xavier paused for a few seconds, his tone slightly less confident than before, "I'll investigate the so-called affair she's talking about."
In other words, they hadn't talked things through yet,
Shane realized the problem was on Xavier's side. Whether they divorced or not, he needed to explain to Lily. He agreed with Xavier's stance, but before he could nod, Tamara interrupted.
"A married couple should at least trust each other. It's almost the end of the year, and you're letting these things occupy your mind. You're wasting time!"
"Honey!" Shane quickly walked over, standing next to Tamara. "You can't say that Family matters are definitely more important than work!"
She didn't understand, as he had always been focused on her. She only knew that this issue had divided Xavier's attention.
She had noticed earlier that his schedule was packed with tasks that should have been finished months ago, but nothing had been dealt with.
"If she trusts you, there's no need for drama. If she doesn't, then-
Before she could finish, Shane covered her mouth and pulled her toward the door.
"Xavier, finish your work and get some rest. Your mom and 1 just came to check in, nothing else. We'll leave now..."
Xavier nodded, about to get up to see them out, but Shane motioned for him not to. After all, he couldn't keep Tamara's mouth covered until they entered the elevator.
Covering her mouth for this little bit would take days of coaxing afterward. Xavier understood what Tamara wanted to say. The constant drama had affected his work and mood.
At first, he didn't believe Lily really wanted a divorce. He was angry that she had messed up his life and work. Now, she truly wanted one.
As long as he let go, he could regain his former calmness and wisdom, no longer disturbed by anything related to her. But for some reason, he didn't want to divorce her.
Lily's image unconsciously appeared in his mind. She was gentle and serene in the past, always wearing a faint smile.
Every day, when he came home from work, he would see her pure, stunning face. But now, every time he saw her, she had a cold expression.
He felt a sense of regret and reluctance. No, it wasn't that he didn't want a divorce, nor that he regretted losing Lily-he was just unwilling to let their marriage end because of a misunderstanding and her foolishness.
As the night wore on, he made himself a cup of coffee and sat at his desk, working late into the night to catch up on tasks. Otherwise, Tamara's anger would sooner or later land on Lily...
On Monday, Lily arrived at work with dark circles under her eyes. She should have had her phone on silent during work hours, but she had only lowered the volume.
Today was the last day to pay the hospital fees. She wasn't sure if Bobby had paid it yet. What if the hospital couldn't reach them, or worse, couldn't reach her, and they kicked Hayden out?
The whole morning passed without a call from the hospital, and she sighed in relief.noveldrama
