Chapter 425
Lily was speechless. Xavier's nonchalance made her really uncomfortable. At the same time, somehow, it felt good too.
"Or... How about going to get another set of cutlery?" Lily suggested.
Xavier straightened his back. With a fierce look in his eyes, he said, "It'll take at least ten minutes to go to the restaurant and back. These dishes would go cold by then."
In that case, Lily figured that this wasn't something for her to worry about. She pointed at the sticky pork ribs closest to her and said, "I'll have that."
She hadn't had a proper meal ever since getting hospitalized. She couldn't deny that Shane was talented in cooking. Looking at these dishes made her hungry.
An awkward look flashed across Xavier's face when he heard her demanding tone. Even so, he leaned forward to pick up a sticky pork rib with the fork, then put it right by her lips.
She opened her mouth and stuffed the entire rib into her mouth.
"Ouch, it's hot!"
She could only mutter as the pork rib was in her mouth. Neither could she chew on it, nor could she spit it out.
So, Xavier had no choice but to take the pork rib back from her. He pulled a piece of tissue for her, then turned around to blow on the pork rib to cool it down.
After a while, he put it by her mouth again.
Lily's heart pounded as she ate the rib, which felt just right.
It wasn't to say that she was deeply moved to be fed by him. It was just that someone with a status like his shouldn't be serving others.
No one would be able to calmly accept being served by him.
"You should have some vegetables instead. Vegetables go cold really quickly."
Indeed, Xavier had never cared for anyone else. It was only when he had to be a caregiver that he realized that vegetable dishes got cold sooner than meat dishes did.
He picked up some mushrooms and broccoli, blew on them, and presented them to Lily.
Lily swallowed the meat she chewed on. She asked, "Where's the main dish?"
Xavier was at a loss for words.
He furrowed his brows. After scanning the dishes on the table, he turned around to look for the thermos.
The lid of the thermos was clipped onto a small compartment. That compartment was sealed as it was meant for the main dish.
He removed the lid, and then fed Lily some pasta.
"I'd like this."
"I'd like to have that."
"I don't want this..."
Lily felt quite uneasy being fed by him. Nonetheless, the more uneasy she felt, the more she tried to feign nonchalance. Thus, she ate to her heart's content, thinking that Xavier would give up on feeding hep eventually.
If that happened, she could feed herself with her left hand. At the very least, she would still be able to get food into her mouth.
Contrary to her expectations, even though Xavier's expression got gloomier by the minute, he served her according to her wishes.
Xavier continued feeding her until
she was full and stopped pointing to any of the dishes. Then, he started eating the dishes she couldn't finish.
"I'm done." Lily turned her head away and pressed her lips together tightly.
Although being fed was meant to be a romantic gesture, this just felt extremely awkward when Xavier did it for her.
What felt even more awkward was the fact that Xavier stayed put. She hadn't expected him to sit down.in front of her and start eating her leftovers using the same set of cutlery. en
She exclaimed in dismay, "I used those!"
"I don't mind," Xavier uttered. He looked her up and down. "I've kissed every inch
of you, haven't I?"
Even though he was simply stating a fact, Lily's face flushed red in embarrassment and frustration.
"You've got such a small appetite," Xavier remarked in a serious tone. "Not only that, you're picky."
This meal had been prepared based on what a balanced meal would look like. It hadn't been entirely made according to Lily's preferences.
While there were some dishes that she only took a bite of, there were some other dishes that she actually finished most of.
Xavier had never taken notice of what Lily's preferences were in the past. This meal today taught him all about her food preferences.
Lily fell silent for a few seconds before saying, "You should care more about Sarah if you have time on your hands."
Lily didn't care if Xavier was concerned about her.noveldrama
