Her Return, His Regret

Chapter 173~ Suspect

"Are you telling me none of you were able to find my fiancee?" Adan yelled. "Then what the hell am I paying so much money for?"

"We are working on it, Sir," the IT man said. "We need time-"

"Time? Does my fiancee have the luxury of time? Each second that she's out there, she's in danger. I need to find her as soon as possible," Adan hissed, his eyes bloodshot from lack of sleep.

It had been two days since Bianca went missing. Two days since the one who had tampered with the CCTV at the club disappeared and two days without any news about Bianca.

Adan was going crazy.

Who would dare kidnap his fiancee? He didn't remember having any enemies recently. Could it have been someone with an old grudge?

Grudges were not a new thing in the business world. The competition was stiff and winning certain projects meant being hated by the others who wanted the same projects.

Adan hired the best hackers in the city to track Bianca. However, they were only able to find the first vehicle she was taken in. It turned out the kidnapper had switched cars after stopping at a blindspot with no cameras in sight. That was why they reached a dead end and they had been trying to find other clues in the last forty-eight hours.

"Calm down, Man," Adan's friend, Ryan Kingsley, said. "We will surely find her with our combined efforts."

Ryan had shown up to support his friend and offer any help he could. He was also representing his wife, Lora since she couldn't be present for her missing friend, Bianca. The twins were still small for Lora to leave them in the nanny's care. Adan pulled at his tie in frustration. He hadn't slept a wink in the last two days and he wasn't going to rest until he found Bianca. The thought that something had happened to her made his heart clench with pain.

He couldn't lose her. Not when he was about to have her.

"Sir, would you like some tea?"

A female voice brought Adan back to the present. He turned to the source and saw his assistant, Cheryl, holding a tray with two mugs of tea.

Shaking his head, he replied, "No thanks. Maybe Ryan would want some."

"No, I'm good thank you," Ryan replied, studying Cheryl with a frown on his face.

The woman had offered to help but all she did was find every excuse to talk and be close to Adan.

Ryan was no fool. He could tell that the assistant had a thing for his friend and Adan was none the wiser.

Cheryl glanced at Adan and smiled at him sweetly, saying, "Please let me know if you need anything. I'm here to help... with anything."

"I'm ok. Cheryl... why don't you go to the office and oversee things there? The IT personnel will find Bianca," Adan suggested.noveldrama

Cheryl's expression shifted. Something flashed through her eyes before she masked it quickly.

"I've already arranged everything, Sir. I'll stay here to help find Miss Bianca," she replied.

Ryan frowned when Cheryl left the room. He looked at Adan and asked, "How much do you trust your assistant?"

Adan didn't know why Ryan suddenly asked that. He looked at him and replied, I trust her as a good assistant. She's good at what she does."

"Do you know she has a crush on you?" Ryan asked again.

Adan furrowed his eyebrows. "A crush? So many women have a crush on me. It wouldn't be new."

"But what if she's those type of women with a toxic obsession over you? She could do anything to stop you from getting married," Ryan pointed out, making his friend freeze momentarily. Adan's heart raced as he thought of the possibility.

He knew he shouldn't be suspecting those close to him but Bianca's disappearance was strange. How come it happened just after the announcement of their engagement? Anger flared through Adan at the thought of someone close to him betraying him this way.

He clenched his hands into fists and said, "If that's the case, we have to investigate her and check those she talked to the last forty-eight hours."

...

Meanwhile, in a quiet town. A woman lay in bed, unconscious.

She looked like she had been in an intense boxing match, her face unrecognisable with bruises and swollen eyes.

"Shouldn't we call the police?" The elderly woman who had been applying herbs to the unconscious woman's wounds asked her husband.

"We can't call anyone. What if the person who tried to kill this young lady gets here before the police?" The man replied.

He had been nearby when he saw someone push the poor woman down the cliff. Thereafter, he climbed down to check if she was still alive and luckily, the woman was still breathing but it was faint.

"Dad, Mom's right. What if you're framed for the murder of this stranger? We need to call the police," a young woman said when she got into the room while holding @baby's milk bottle.

The man sighed, looking at his family. He replied, "Fine, I'll report to the police. But I'll have to go there physically, I can't risk making a call. In the meantime, Serena, look after the young woman with your mom."

The woman lying on the bed suddenly opened her swollen eyes and screamed, "No, please, don't kill me!"

“It's ok... you're safe, young lady. No one will kill you here. My husband saved you," the elderly lady held the woman's hand to comfort her.

The woman glanced at her and asked, "W-Where am I?"

"You're on the outskirts of town. We are farm caretakers and my husband brought you to our humble home. What's your name young lady? It can help us find your family." The woman turned to look at the elderly woman with difficulty. She replied with a hoarse voice, "Bianca. My name is Bianca Jones."
