Chapter 731
Casper's gaze was intense as he scrolled through an anonymous picture on his phone. Just a few moments of looking at it seemed to make the air around him feel heavy.
With a casual flick of his finger, the phone landed almost silently on the sleek office desk. He rubbed his temples, clearly distressed.
Dillon watched him, his eyes a mix of concern and confusion. He picked up the phone and quickly glanced at the image on the screen. It was a photo of Eliza and Gabe together, and from the angle, it was obvious someone had snapped it secretly.
The sneaky shot captured a kind of unintentional closeness between them, adding layers of complexity. Some of the pictures were blurry, probably because of a shaky hand, which oddly made them seem more real.
"Mr. Casper, should I trace the IP of the message?" Dillon asked, his voice steady, showing his loyalty and efficiency.
Casper didn't answer. Instead, he opened and closed a desk drawer, his eyes wandering over the desk before finally settling on Dillon. His voice was weary, "Got a smoke?"
"Sure do." Dillon quickly pulled out a pack of cigarettes, skillfully taking one out and handing it over along with a lighter.
As the cigarette lit up, the empty CEO office filled with a gentle haze of tobacco smoke.
"Dillon, this looks like ordinary social stuff. Your wife is careful with her interactions with other men," Dillon offered, trying to reassure him.
He knew Casper had more on his mind than just the photos.
"If she was careful, she wouldn't have gone out with him alone," Casper said, holding the cigarette between his fingers and pinching the bridge of his nose. "The thing is, I can't even bring it up with her."
"It's normal to ask," Dillon suggested.
Casper shook his head. No, he couldn't ask. He promised to trust her completely.
He took quick drags of his cigarette. If he smoked too fast, he'd end up choking. Dillon quickly poured him a glass of water and handed it over. "Want me to call your wife?"
"No need." Casper waved him off, taking a sip of the warm water. "No need. Book me a ticket to the spa."
Dillon looked puzzled. "You're going to the spa by yourself?"
Casper rubbed his temple, snuffing out the cigarette in the ashtray. "I've got a headache."
With that, he stood up, grabbed his coat, and instructed, "Once you've booked it, send the details to my phone."
"Sure thing, Mr. Casper."
After Casper left, Dillon's mind was a
swirl of emotions. His boss, Mr. Casper had never felt this cornered before. It seemed those photos had a way of causing him some real heartache.
After some thought, Dillon decided to call Eliza.
Eliza was deep in conversation with Gabe, discussing project details, when Dillon's name flashed on her phone, breaking her focus. Her eyes narrowed slightly. "Hello?"
"Mrs. Casper, it's Dillon. Sorry to bother you," he said.
"What's up, Dillon?"
"Mr. Casper isn't feeling well. He went to the spa on his own and wouldn't let me go with him. If you have the time, could you check on him? I'm worried..." Dillon's voice trailed off, filled with concern.
Eliza's heart tightened, her brows knitting together. Why would he suddenly feel unwell? And a spa isn't the best place if he's not feeling good.noveldrama
"Got it."
She hung up, ready to leave. "Let's wrap up and discuss this at the office tomorrow. My husband's not feeling great, and I need to check on him."
"Is he okay?" Gabe asked, standing up with concern.
"I'm not sure. He went to the spa alone, and I'm a bit worried." She apologized to Gabe as she took her leave. "I should get going."
