Chapter 65
Chapter 65 Not'An
Accident
It's a simple question,' Micah said calmly.
'I don't have to answer you. She has nothing to do with you.' Timothy narrowed
his eyes in suspicion. 'How did you know she's here?'
Micah said nothing.
'Who called you?' Timothy demanded.
'I just want to know if she's okay.'
'That's none of your concern,' Timothy shot back. 'You answer my question first. Who called you?'
A sudden idea struck him.
Timothy narrowed his eyes. 'Did you have something to do with the car crash?'
Micah frowned. 'I don't know what you are talking about.'
Timothy snorted. 'Humph! How do I know I can believe you?'
'Why would I want to hurt Darya?'
'Beats me.' Timothy shrugged. 'But I wouldn't rule it out. After all, you are the type of person who forced his own wife to give blood to his mistress.'
Micah's frown deepened. 'It's a big leap from that to murder. Besides, I didn't force her.'
'Whatever.' Timothy rolled his eyes. 'Are you denying that you made Darya give blood to that woman? What's her name? Right, Regina.'
Timothy would have punched Micah in the face if they weren't in a hospital right
now.
It made his blood boil to know that the woman he treasured was ill-treated by a stony-hearted man like Micah
Cavanaugh.
Micah didn't want to get into an argument with Timothy in a hospital hallway.
He turned around to leave, intending to find a nurse or a doctor who could brief him on Darya's condition.
'Hey, I'm not done with you yet!' Timothy yelled.
Micah kept walking.
Timothy caught up with him in a jog.

He deliberately bumped Micah's shoulder. 'If I know you are in any way connected
to the car crash, I swear I'm going to make you pay!"
Micah took a deep breath. 'She's my wife. I'd never hurt her.'
'Ex! She's your ex-wife! As in, no longer married.' Timothy raised his chin defiantly. "Your sister the loudmonth has been telling everyone your true love is that Regina woman. You used Darya as a mobile blood bank for that woman. That's not gonna happen again! Why don't you stop pestering fer? Go coddle your mistress treatys doesn't need you here. She doesn't want to see your face ever again.'
Micah clenched his fists but said nothing.
He left the scene before he lost his temper.
Talking to Timothy wasn't going to solve any problem.
But Micah did learn something from the confrontation-Darya's car accident might not be an accident, after all
Thinking of this, Micah made a call to his assistant. 'I need you to do something for me...'

For the next three days, Darya was ordered to be on bed rest though she felt fine. She got an earful from Avery for dismissing the bodyguards that night, and had to beg her brother not to tell their dad about the accident.
Avery cut short his business trip and was on his way back when Darya checked out of the hospital, against the doctor's wishes.
Her concussion was gone.
Her back and legs still hurt somewhat, but she refused to waste any more time lying around and doing nothing Darya instructed her chauffeur to head straight to the company after she left the hospital.noveldrama
The Solaro project was put on hold because of her absence.
Darya knew there were still some grumblings in the company about her appointment as the vice president.
The project would be a way to prove herself.
After catching up on her emails, Darya summoned Glen Chasey to her office and
asked him to arrange a
meeting.
All project members were requested to attend.
Douglas Kay was there, though he wasn't invited.
At least he had the decency to wait for Darya to finish talking before launching into a diatribe. 'We have zero experience in artificial intelligence, let alone something as advanced as personal healthcare robots. Who's going to write the algorithms? How many years must we spend in testing before the final product is ready for the market? What if someone else beats us to it? I said this before, and I repeat, the collaboration with Solaro is too risky.'
Darya listened patiently. 'Are you suggesting we pull out of the project, Director Kay? We already signed a deal

with Solaro and Zenith. Let me remind you, the damages for breaking the contract without cause are set at two
billion dollars.'
'Well, of course I'm not suggesting we pull out.' Douglas backtracked fast.
He had a copy of the agreement but had not read through the fine print.
'All I'm saying is, we should maybe slow down a little. There's no need to rush things. Maybe we should wait
for President Avery to come back.'
Darya drummed her fingers on the desk. 'President Avery oversees operations of the entire group, which has more than twelve subsidiaries and offices in over twenty cities. He doesn't and shouldn't micromanage. He's given me carte blanche to direct the Solaro project, and I intend to do a good job."
'That's admirable,' Douglas said, not bothering to mask his disdain. 'But I still think-
'How many of you here think we should hold off until Avery's back?' Darya ignored him and addressed the
room.
The rest of the meeting participants exchanged quick looks, but no one spoke up. 'We are employees of Paragon. We get paid to do a job. Darya's voice hardened. 'If we leave everything to Avery, what's the point of hiring us?'
Douglas opened his mouth to speak but Darya beat him to it. 'If any one of you feel you are not up to the task without Avery's help, speak now, and I'll take you
off the project. Incompetence won't be tolerated in my team
A hush descended over the large conference room.
Darya's message was clear-it was her way or the highway.
At first, some of the employees shared Douglas's view-Darya was too young to
be trusted with the mantle. But if the price of agreeing with Douglas was leaving
the team, then it was best to keep quiet. Darya swept her gaze over the faces of every team member, most of whom avoided eye contact.
