Chapter 29
I never expected that one day I would find myself in a situation as helpless as some of the plots in novels.
Selena could be very sweet at times, but she could also be difficult to handle. Thankfully, she was generally forgiving toward me; as long as I showed some weakness and tried to appease her, even her temper would eventually cool down. So, dealing with her wasn't too challenging.
I had been stuck in the hospital for nearly three days.
For those three days, I was confined to the room by Zion. Aside from going to the bathroom, I hadn't stepped out of that room. I had no idea what the rest of the hospital looked like.
I was completely unaware of any information from the outside world.
Zion appeared in front of me, holding a set of fresh hospital clothes. "Selena hasn't taken a shower in three days. Now that you're back, you need to help her bathe."
"Are you saying I have to give Selena a bath?" I looked at the hospital clothes in his hands, puzzled.
"Selena has bipolar disorder. She's not incapable of taking care of herself. You just need to coax her or remind her; why do I have to do it?" I expressed my dissatisfaction to Zion.
To my surprise, he got even angrier and shoved the hospital clothes into my hands. "What if she gets the idea to drown herself? If anything happens to her, Hudson, can you handle that responsibility?"noveldrama
I rolled my eyes; it was just a bath-what could possibly happen?
"I have a girlfriend. If someone needs to help her bathe, it should be you, not me."
Zion seemed to be extremely disdainful of my character. "Now you talk about propriety? You've shared a bed with Selena before; you've seen her naked. It's just a bath; it's not like I'm asking you to sleep with her. Stop pretending to have some moral high ground."
I was at a loss for words with Zion's accusations.
Seeing my reluctance, he decided not to push further and instead said in a calmer tone, "If you help Selena take a shower, I'll give you back your phone tomorrow. You can call whoever you want, and I won't stop you."
I was filled with frustration. It was my freedom to call whoever I wanted. I took a deep breath. "Why do I have to help her bathe? Others can do it too. Was she not taking showers before I got here?"
Zion sneered, looking at me with evident disgust. "Since she was hospitalized, she hasn't bathed herself. I've been the one helping her, but ever since you came back, she won't let me do it anymore. Hudson, do you think that's what I want?"
I was a bit surprised by Zion's willingness to endure this as a man for Selena.
Whether it was a psychological act of revenge against him or a way to get another chance to call Sylvia, I didn't know.
In the end, I agreed to help Selena take a shower. Looking at the hospital clothes
in my hands and then at Selena quietly watching a movie on the bed, I felt a wave of guilt wash over me.
"Sylvia, I'm doing this for you. I hope you can forgive me, and may this stay a secret forever," I thought.
What do you think?
