Chapter 82
"Meteor, Meteor?"
Alice was stunned.
What meteor? What the hell was a shooting star?
The screen of the phone she placed on the dining table lit up, and a piece of news popped into her sight...
[The meteor shower of the Perseus will arrive at around 12 PM this evening. According to analysis, the summit of the Snowy Mountains is the best location for watching the meteor shower. However, according to a person familiar with the matter, the mountaintop had been reserved by a mysterious person, and the road to the mountaintop had been blocked since yesterday.]
Meteor shower?
The Snow Mountain. Wasn't this place the peak of the Snow Mountain?
Then the mysterious person in the news was William?
Alice slowly woke up, and her face turned red and white, as she asked dumbly: "William, the reason was because you want to see the meteor shower in the wilderness?"
"Or?" William asked as he picked up a small sun egg and placed it on her lips, "Eat."
Alice sluggishly bite the sun egg, "So, we are here to see the meteor shower today?"
Not some shameful wild game?
Just watching a meteor shower? This did not fit William's style.
"Yes. What do you think we're doing here?" William looked at her. "No, nothing."
Alice didn't dare to say what she thought she was doing here.
"Your expression tells me that you think a lot of things." William stared at her. Alice was so embarrassed that she couldn't speak.
William then fork up another piece of sun egg, and fed it to her like a pet. Alice chewed on the sun egg, and mumbled, "Then why did you make me wear this student uniform?"
Hearing that, William's action of holding onto the knife and fork paused, and his black eyes became deep.noveldrama
Alice looked at him in puzzlement.
"When I was seventeen, someone asked me to go see a shooting star. That person didn't keep his promise. I stood in the wilderness all night with my uniform."
William suddenly said, as he narrated the entire story emotionlessly.
Alice was startled.
It turned out that he had been stood up, but what did it have to do with her wearing uniform?
"I cannot stand it when others stand me up. So, even if more than ten years have passed and when I want to watch the meteor shower, I still want someone in uniform to stand in front of me and keep that promise!" William's every word was aloof and haughty, arrogantly stuffing a piece of sun egg into her mouth, "Just act like that person."
To be that person?
Was it a girl?
Alice realized that since she had followed William around for so long, she only knew a little about him. For example, his private life was a mess, he was the richest man in the world, his temper was bad, and he was paranoid...
William continued to cut pieces of sun egg and fed them into her mouth, not saying another word. His handsome face did not have any expression, and his black eyes were unfathomably deep.
The night was so quiet that not a single sound could be heard.
Alice stared at him, breaking the silence, "Why haven't I heard you mention it before?"
"What's the point of mentioning it?" William did not have a good temper and continued to feed the sun egg to her, insisting that she eat it.
"It's probably because that man was important to him."
Alice said softly, deep in her own thoughts.
Patrick had said that he would not forget her. He said that he wanted to marry her,
and made so many promises to her when they were young.
In the end, none of Patrick's plans were carried out.
She also kept it in her heart.
After she finished speaking, the fork in William's hand pierced straight into a piece
of sun egg, his black pupils becoming deeper and deeper as he said coldly, "It's
not important! A renegade is never important to me!"
If that person wasn't important, he wouldn't have specially come to watch another meteor shower.
He wanted her to wear a student uniform to make him remember.
That person must be very important to him to make him hate him so much.
Alice finally understood. Today, she was a substitute for the person who failed to fulfill his promise...
"Then why don't you wear a student uniform today?" Alice asked. Shouldn't the memories of the past be forever engraved in his mind?
"I'm not 17 years old. It's stupid to wear a uniform." William raised his eyebrows.
Alice was speechless, so she was the one being stupid, huh?
But knowing that William didn't bring her out to do those kinds of things, Alice felt relieved and became interested. She reached out to grab his knife and fork to eat something, but William slapped it away.
"Your hand is injured, don't move!"
William took her hand away and continued to feed her.
Alice could only stop moving and let him feed the sun egg, bit by bit.
After a while, she looked at William's grave and stern face, and could not help but say, "Actually, if you really care about it that much, just ask for that person to come out again."
Wouldn't meeting that person to watch a meteor shower make up for his regret? Why did she need to be a substitute?
She believed that with William's tyrannical and despotic methods, he would be able to capture anyone to fulfill his promise.
Hearing that, William fiercely glared at her, and spoke with an extremely vile tone. "Shut up! Eat your food!"
William forced a piece of sun egg into her mouth, causing her to almost choke to death.
Alice immediately covered her mouth. This man was baffling, she was just suggesting to him out of good intentions, could he not be so ruthless?
Suddenly, a glint flashed across her eyes.
It was a meteor.
Alice immediately stood up from the dining table and patted William: "William, the meteor is coming."
The peak of the mountain was the closest to the sky.
Streaks of light fell from the night sky, resplendent yet gently falling, drawing the most beautiful arcs in the pitch-black night sky.
So beautiful.
Alice looked at the meteor shower in shock, and after a few seconds, she finally lowered her gaze and looked at William...
William was still sitting at the dining table, not even looking at the sky. His black eyes were fixated on the table, no one knew what he was thinking about.
In the next second, William put down his knife and fork, and walked out from the dining table, his long hands holding onto the wine bottle, he walked step by step, and stopped beside the railings on the cliff. He tilted the wine in his hands, and poured all of the red wine.
It was like a red wine rain.
It was like a ceremony.
Alice stood behind him and looked at him in puzzlement.
After pouring the wine, William threw the red wine bottle to the side, bent his long and straight legs, and sat down by the fence. He looked up at the shooting stars in the sky, his handsome face was pale.
"Come here!"
William called out to her.
Alice pulled on the miniskirt on her body, slowly walked over, and sat down beside
him.
The two sat on the ground, Alice pressed her hands on the fence and glanced at William from time to time.
She didn't know why, but she had a feeling that today's William was very different from usual. He was not as sharp or as overbearing as usual, as if he was hiding a
lot of things.
"Do you know how to completely stand a person up?" William suddenly asked.
"What?"
Alice looked at him, puzzled.
"Die."
William's thin lip slightly opened and said, his slightly cold voice quickly disappeared into the wind.
He said, "Do you know how to completely stand a person up? Die."
Alice looked at William in a daze, even forgetting to pay attention to the beautiful shooting stars in the sky.
"He's dead." William sat on the ground, he looked up to the meteors in the sky, his expression did not contain even a hint of admiration, and his eyes were even darker than the night, "That year, he did not visit the meteors, he agreed to it, and
died on the way here."
Dead.
Alice's lips slightly parted in shock. She finally understood why William had looked at her so viciously when she had suggested asking that person out once again.
So it turned out to be someone who could not return no matter how domineering
and tyrannical he was.
"May I ask who this person is?"
Alice asked carefully.
Was she his girlfriend when he was young?
"My brother."
William said.
Yet another unexpected answer.
Alice looked at him in shock.
He had a brother, and his brother was dead.
It turned out that the person was his brother.
It was no wonder that William was stunned when he saw her dressed in student
uniform. Actually, he wanted her to wear a boy's uniform, but got misunderstood
by Daniel, the almighty butler.
Under the night sky, shooting stars fell one by one, swaying and forming arcs.
It was like a golden rain.
So clear, so beautiful.
"That year, I was waiting there. After the night, all the meteors had fallen." William's voice was low, and did not carry strong emotions, "There is no signal for his phone in the wilderness. On the second day, I only found out that he died in a
car accident when he was on his way over, even his car fell down the mountain, his body covered in blood."
His narrated was very calmly, but Alice's heart trembled from listening to it.
She could almost think of the shock scene of the car accident, and of a teenager
waiting alone in the wilderness, all night, waiting for a bad news.
"Heh."
William suddenly sneered, "A person would break a promise by such a ruthless method."
His cold smile was especially sad in this night.
Alice listened quietly for a long time before saying, "But he didn't want to..."
She did not say anything more, nor did she have anything to say to comfort him. She thought, William understood more than anyone that his brother was prepared to go. He was just blaming himself, blaming himself for making that agreement with his brother, in the end, his brother lost his life on the way there.
"The N.E. system was originally prepared by him, but he didn't continue to do it.
He agreed to it right from the start. He can't finish even one thing, what kind of man is that!?"
William said, no matter how much ridicule sounded in his voice, it could not conceal the pain he was feeling.
Alice sat beside him and listened quietly.
It turned out that the shocking N.E. system was originally prepared by William's
brother. It turned out that there was actually such a story here that she had never heard of in any news.
William probably cared a lot about his brother, which was why he kept the N.E. system, and even developed into a global monopoly.
"Although this saying is very old-fashioned, I am still quite willing to believe it." Alice raised her head and looked at the falling meteors, she said seriously, "After death, people become stars, looking at the people on the ground, I believe your brother is always proud
of you."
What do you think?
