Pampered By The Ruthless Underground Boss

Chapter 669

Chapter 669:

One was her lover. The other, her mother. No matter whom Khloe chose, the consequences would be irreversible.

What would she do?

Whitney’s lips curled into a sneer. “Henrik, you’re bending over backward for her, but do you even realize what you’re doing? You’re practically signing your own death sentence. If she truly cares about you, she’d never let you take that risk—your condition is far too complex. Besides, you’re not the only one here who can be the test subject. You’re volunteering to be the test subject, conveniently sparing herself from making the tough choice. But what about her? What will she do? Will she let you walk into danger? Why are you doing this?”

Her words dripped with calculated malice, each one designed to wedge a rift between Henrik and Khloe.

If Khloe accepted Henrik as the test subject, it would mean she valued Laura over him, proving to everyone that her love had limits.

But if she chose Laura instead, it would mean she was willing to risk her mother’s life for Henrik. If anything happened to Laura, it would cause an even greater rift between Henrik and Khloe.

No matter what she chose, the outcome would drive a wedge between them.

Whitney was savoring her moment, confident she had backed Khloe into a corner. But her smirk faded when Henrik turned to her with a chilling glare.

“Do you really think you have the right to judge Khloe?”

Once, he had shown Whitney respect—not only because she was his aunt but because his late mother had pleaded with him to look after her. But that was before. Too much had happened. Now, he saw her for what she truly was.

“Whatever decision Khloe makes, it’ll be because she’s considered every possibility. She isn’t choosing out of favoritism. And even if she does put her mother first, so what?”noveldrama

His tone held no trace of doubt. He didn’t see anything wrong with it. After all, from the very start, Khloe’s goal had been to cure Laura. That was why she had thrown herself into this research in the first place.

Henrik turned back to Khloe, looking calm and unshaken. His next words carried a quiet finality and deep affection. “Khloe, inject me with the medicine. I trust you.”

Khloe studied Henrik carefully, noticing the exhaustion that clung to him like a shadow. The past few days had taken their toll, his complexion ghostly pale.

Saying nothing, she simply stared at him.

Henrik let out a faint chuckle, the corners of his lips lifting into a teasing smirk. “What’s this? You can’t bear to do it, can you? If that’s the case, why don’t you give me a kiss first? Maybe then, I’ll have more confidence to make it through.”

Henrik had only been joking, a lighthearted attempt to ease the tension in the room. But to his surprise, Khloe moved forward without hesitation, planting a kiss on his thin lips. “Don’t worry; I won’t let anything happen to you. And when this is all over, I’ll give you my answer.”

Khloe said the last sentence with a calm certainty.

Henrik’s smirk faded, replaced by something deeper, something unspoken. His eyes locked onto hers, searching, understanding. Then, slowly, he smiled. “Okay.”

For a brief moment, nothing else existed. Just the two of them, seeing something in each other that no one else could.
