Secrets Of The Neglected Wife

Chapter 1052

Chapter 1052:

It struck him that, over the years, Kellan had become more and more defiant, less willing to back down.

Yet, Kinslee’s anger seemed to ebb slightly, likely due to the presence of Kellan and Allison.

“In any case, Nova is never setting foot in this house again!” Kinslee declared, her voice sharp with fury.

The mere sight of Nova made her blood boil.

But Nova, ever the picture of composure, didn’t flinch.

“Kinslee, I only came to check on your health,” Nova said softly, her hand resting delicately on her still-throbbing cheek. She bowed slightly, a picture of grace.

“But I understand you don’t want me here. Since you’ve made your feelings clear, I’ll leave and won’t trouble you again.”noveldrama

Nova took a step back, moving toward Brook.

“Brook, I’ll go now. I don’t want to make things worse for Kinslee. Today should have been a happy day, and I don’t want to spoil anyone’s mood.”

Her words were calm, measured, and showed a deep understanding of the situation — one of the qualities Brook most admired in her.

“Nova, I’m sorry for what happened,” Brook said gently, his hand resting on hers.

“I’ll come see you tonight. For now, go home and rest. You’ve been dragged into all this without any fault of your own.”

He knew his mother loathed Nova, who was a mistress, and he couldn’t push Nova to stay under such circumstances.

But their close interaction, so tender and public, made Kinslee’s stomach churn.

“Both of you, leave now!” Kinslee shouted, her voice cracking with fury. She raised her cane, pointing it at Brook with a fierceness that sent a chill down his spine.

“If you truly want me to live a few more years, you’d better stay out of my sight!” she added.

Brook saw his mother shaking with rage, her face flushing and her breath quickening. It was clear that her anger was pushing her to the edge of health.

“Mom, stop,” Brook said, stepping back, his own brow furrowing in distress.

“I’ll leave.”

As a middle-aged man, the humiliation of being treated this way by his elderly mother stung deeply. Not only was it degrading, but the physical pain from her blows was too much to ignore.

Without another word, he turned and walked out with Nova.

Before leaving, he glanced back, his voice strained.

“Mom, I’m leaving now, but I’ll come back another time.”

The door to the Lloyd house slammed shut behind him with a resounding thud, leaving him speechless.

Brook stood there, his heart heavy with embarrassment and frustration. Never before had he felt so humiliated, yet there was nothing he could do but leave, dragging Nova along with him.
