Chapter 483:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
For a moment, she wondered if she had misheard.
Carole narrowed her eyes as she leaned in. “Kellan, that cooperation agreement is covered by confidentiality clauses. We can’t just go around sharing it…”
She hadn’t expected the icy glare that met her — a gaze so cold it seemed to slice through her words. Kellan looked like an iceberg, his eyes fixed on her with a frigid disdain that silenced her.
She remembered that Kellan had always been cold toward her, but today… there was even a hint of mockery in his indifferent expression.
“Oh? So you’re telling me someone else drafted this so-called agreement of yours?” he scoffed. “Curious, considering Ms. Clarke’s name appears as a shareholder for Charisma Company.”
What?
The color drained from Carole’s face, her disbelief rooting her to the spot.
How could she not have known about this?
She wanted to explain, but the piercing stare from Kellan stopped her cold.
She had a premonition that if she said another word, she might end up being thrown to the wolves.
Across the table, Allison remained unruffled. She tapped a finger idly against her phone, barely glancing at them. “The new product proposal is solid,” she said offhandedly. “A partnership would benefit both parties.”
She gave a slight nod, fingers sliding over her screen in a casual swipe. “So… best of luck.”
The remark was perfunctory, almost absentminded, yet her eyes lingered on Kellan, who stirred his coffee with quiet intensity.
Today, dressed in a crisp white shirt buttoned to the collar, his sleeves pushed back just enough to reveal the sinewy strength of his forearms, he radiated a focused, restrained energy and masculinity.
He looked every inch the mature professional — and yet, beneath it all, he was a beast in bed.
The café had all but emptied, a soft stillness settling over them.noveldrama
Carole finally blinked out of her daze, glancing at the two coffees placed before Allison.
She tilted her head, a teasing glint in her eye. “I wonder who Ms. Clarke’s meeting, making you wait this long. Could it be someone… special?”
Kellan’s reaction was subtle, just a tightening of his jaw, though his eyes sharpened with a cutting focus. Allison, however, merely smiled, swirling her coffee before taking a sip. “Just a friend.”
The first taste was bitter, giving way to a rich, complex warmth.
Carole sighed, pretending to care about Allison so much. “Well, as long as it’s just a friend. But let me remind you, Ms. Clarke, be careful. One of my friends had a similar ‘café friend’ and…”
Before she could finish, Carole yelped, jolting back in her seat. “Ow! My foot!”
A stone had somehow skidded in through the open door and struck her ankle, drawing a sharp line of gushing blood.
