Chapter 486:

His gaze shifted to Carole, who sat a little too close to Allison for his liking.

“Excuse me, Miss,” he said smoothly, though there was a chill in his smile. “Would you mind moving? I’d like to sit by Allison.”

As he approached, Carole seemed to sense a faint smell of blood on him. She quickly moved aside, murmuring, “Sorry.”

Gordon slid into the chair beside Allison, completely ignoring Kellan’s cold stare. He reached over, and Allison felt the warmth of his hand brush past her ear.

“You have something in your hair,” he murmured, drawing back with a single pink petal in hand. “It’s a petal,” he said, setting it delicately on the table, a faint smile curving his lips as he looked at her.

For a moment, their eyes met, and Allison saw a new depth in Gordon’s gaze — an intensity that was worlds away from the boy she’d known years ago.

He wasn’t a teenager anymore; the man sitting beside her was someone entirely different, both assured and raw. Dressed casually, his shirt unbuttoned at the collar, Gordon struck a balance between youthful energy and an almost magnetic charisma.

There was no denying he was incredibly attractive.

“Allison,” he murmured, his tone rich and heartfelt, “I’ve missed you.”

The warmth in his eyes softened the words, as if, in that quiet moment, nothing else in the world mattered.

Allison caught a scent drifting through the air.

It was a mix of citrus and black tea — crisp, fresh, just like typical Gordon. But there was an unmistakable trace of blood.

Her gaze swept discreetly over Gordon, narrowing slightly as she took him in. Not a scratch on him. “Thank you, Gordon,” she murmured, taking a careful step back. The charged moment between them felt like it had vanished, dissipating like smoke in the breeze.

Gordon noticed her detachment, but he showed no sign of it. As clingy as he always was, he knew all too well that Allison wouldn’t be easily swayed.

“Thanks aren’t necessary,” he replied. “But let’s keep it low-key. Too many eyes on us here. Once we’re in a secure spot, I’ll give you what I brought.”

“Fine,” Allison replied.

A slight furrow creased her brow. “Are you hurt?”

Gordon’s easygoing demeanor faltered for just a second. After countless times returning bruised and bloodied, he had long stopped expecting anyone to notice, let alone ask.

So he had gotten used to hiding it.noveldrama

But Allison always noticed.

“I’m fine. Just handled some… uninvited guests,” he said, flashing a grin that held no apology.

To her, it was perhaps an ordinary question, but to Gordon, it was a quiet confirmation — she noticed, she cared.

Their brief exchange didn’t go unnoticed by those around them, especially Kellan.

He had a cold, murderous aura. Gordon could sense it even without looking up.

But so what?
