Secrets Of The Neglected Wife

Chapter 845

Chapter 845:

“Allison, you’ve got admirers left and right. All I want is Colton. How is that wrong?” Melany’s voice softened, a plea hidden beneath her words.

Allison’s smile was thin and knowing. “Worry not, you two are a perfect match, and I won’t separate you. But just make sure your husband stops pestering me.”

“He just got carried away today,” Melany defended, though inside she was struggling to maintain her facade. Allison’s every word seemed to chip away at her illusions.

“Even if there’s love between you, will it endure?” Allison subtly shifted the conversation. “Remember, Lindy’s condition hasn’t improved. You’re here in Vrining for that, right? If she doesn’t get better, surely you know how she’ll treat you.”

Melany scoffed coldly. “Don’t fret. Colton and I will nurse Lindy back to health. She’ll appreciate my efforts.”

“Why all this fuss? You’re chasing that special medicine, aren’t you?” Allison prodded, touching a nerve. “Why not just beg? I might just take pity on you.”

As expected, this only fueled Melany’s fury further. She felt Allison was deliberately flaunting.

“No thanks. We don’t need anything from the MDH,” Melany declared, her voice laced with resolve. “I’ll find another way to get the medication!”

With that, she ended the call, leaving the room engulfed in silence. Melany sat, her thoughts stormy and agitated. Not long after, Colton stumbled in, the scent of alcohol clinging to him, and sadness etched deep in his eyes. He barely noticed Melany there.

“Colton, you had me worried.” Melany reached out and grasped his hand, her voice laden with concern. “Why did you come back so late?”

Melany eyed Colton warily, trying to gauge his mood. He shrugged off her concern. “I wasn’t with anyone, just had a few too many.”

It wasn’t that Colton was indifferent to Melany’s feelings; he was simply overwhelmed by the way Allison had manipulated him and cast him aside. “I see,” Melany said, her face hardening.

It was clear to her that Colton wasn’t being honest. He had been with Allison. Yet, it wasn’t the time to confront him, so she feigned ignorance. “Colton, I know I’ve made mistakes. I’ll talk to Allison—”

Her words were abruptly cut off.

“Allison doesn’t want to see you,” Colton interjected, his tone cold as he poured himself a glass of water. As the chill of the water cooled his throat, his thoughts began to clear a bit.

He puzzled over why Allison was at that club. The sight of the black car that had whisked her away lingered in his mind.

Meanwhile, Melany, unaware of his swirling thoughts, started to weep softly. “After all these years, if you truly have no feelings for me, maybe we should just end it and get a divorce.”
