“That’s not enough,” Kellan replied.

He leaned in and kissed her.

His eyes burned with a deep, restless desire.

“I really don’t want the morning to come so soon,” he said.

With ease, he unbuttoned Allison’s shirt.

She locked her gaze on Kellan.

As she glanced in the mirror, she saw her neck covered in hickeys.

Allison couldn’t help but laugh, shaking her head. “Kellan, did you turn into a vampire last night?”

He chuckled lightly, leaning casually against the wall.

“Just use some concealer.”

“That’s all I can do,” Allison replied.

She sighed and grabbed the concealer to cover the hickeys.

Last night had been so intense that she had completely forgotten about them.

Soon, she looked at her now flawless skin and let out a breath of relief. “All set,” she said.

Kellan seemed a bit let down. “That’s good.”

After having breakfast together, Allison left for the lab on her own.

Even with everything that had happened last night, she knew that there was much more to face today. When Allison reached the office, she saw that Verruckt wasn’t there.

Allison was briefly taken aback but then smiled and nodded. “Of course. How about you all? You all look drained.”

Judith spoke with a weary tone. “It’s just part of the job. We’re used to it. But why do you look so tired too?”
