“Mom, I heard Eileen is back, so I came to check on her. I also need to talk to Eileen about something.” Gianna, facing away from the light, concealed her expression from Eileen.

“Grandma, you should go ahead and sleep. Don’t mind me,” Eileen said softly to Leyla. Then, she followed Gianna out.

Gianna, from her angle, hadn’t noticed the little girl sleeping on the bed.

Eileen followed Gianna to the living room and took a seat. Looking up, she saw Conroy rush in and give her a probing look.

“How can I help you?” Eileen lounged on the sofa in her pajamas, her long black hair giving her a relaxed aura. She bore a striking resemblance to her mother. Her authoritative presence was undeniable and compelling, even as she simply sat there doing nothing.

“I’ve heard that you’ve learned about the relationship between Jessica and your father,” Gianna said cautiously, sitting down. “Your mother is no longer with us, so you can think of me as your second mother. I divorced Kinsey’s father years ago because we didn’t get along. I supported the family with your father. Over time, we developed feelings for each other.”

“My mother has only been gone for a few years, not decades. But Jessica is over twenty years old now. So, your affair with my father happened while my mother was still alive, not after she passed,” Eileen interjected, frowning.

“But back then, your mother wasn’t interested in managing the family business. It was your father and I who handled these matters!” Gianna argued.

Eileen stood up, her eyes narrowing. “Don’t try to justify your actions. You want to be praised as the saviors of the Vazquez family for having an affair. That’s absurd! No one will oppose you being together, as long as you leave the Vazquez family alone. No one cares about your life or how many children you have.”

Eileen looked down at Gianna with disdain. “Are you here for a heart-to-heart conversation at this late hour, or do you want to persuade me to let you take charge of the Vazquez family while I become a parasite of the family?”

Conroy flushed with anger. “I knew you returned to the Vazquez family for the assets! You’re still so young. What can you possibly understand about any of this? Even Kinsey isn’t capable of leading the Vazquez family, let alone you!”

“So, you mean Jessica is capable of doing it?” Eileen mocked. “Is she qualified because her hair reaches her waist or because of her foolish brain?”

Eileen suddenly realized that Conroy was wary of Kinsey. Although Kinsey was a man, he wasn’t Conroy’s biological son. Gianna and Conroy clearly planned to leave the Vazquez family’s leadership to Jessica.

“Eileen, do you have proof now?” Gianna asked. “Do you have the results of the test for your father?”

“Is that why you speak to us with such confidence?”

Raising an eyebrow, Eileen asked, “So you rushed back because you sensed trouble. Did you come back in the middle of the night to negotiate with me?”

“Negotiate with you?” Conroy scoffed, slamming his hand on the table. “You think you deserve us to negotiate with you? You’re lucky to even dine with us. No matter how well you lived in Onaland before, you were just an ordinary person. But now, you’re wearing designer clothes worth tens of thousands and dining on lavish meals because you’re back with the Vazquez family! You should be grateful!”

Had they realized earlier how difficult it would be to deal with Eileen, they might have allowed the impostor to continue the charade.
