Chapter 113
Chapter 113:
The room full of roses and the apology on the card eased her worries of these two days. But after she calmed down and sat down, she continued to worry about the situation.
Joseph was a responsible person, even if he seemed cold and haughty. He was always responsible to his wife or his son. It was clear to her after spending so much time with him.
But this was not the reason she could be sure to leave Noah with him.
Hayden was concerned about Noah’s condition and kept in contact with the hospital. When she learned that Noah had not suffered from food poisoning and that his condition was due to a cold and fever, instead of feeling relieved, she felt worse.
From her point of view, although Joseph kept saying that he adored Noah and took good care of him, she felt that he wasn’t detail-oriented enough. From the first time they met, when the lamp almost fell on him and then he got sick several times afterward, it seemed that he hadn’t taken good care of the child.
She intended to find time to talk to him about the child.
While she was thinking about it, her assistant Jeff knocked on the door and came in.
“Miss Downey, the home office called and they want to do an inspection. Mr. Beckham and several managers are coming to the hotel for an inspection. Should we make any preparations?”
Hayden came to his senses and said, “No special preparations are necessary. We just have to do the normal thing. When will they arrive?”
“Headquarters says Mr. Beckham is already on his way. He should be here in fifteen minutes.”
“All right, inform Mr. Brown, who is in charge of the main lobby today, and some supervisors on duty to come with me to meet them. The rest will attend to their respective duties.” After instructing Jeff, he straightened his professional attire and quietly left his office.
Joseph didn’t like anyone putting on a show for him. Since he and the managers wanted to come in for an inspection, then they would want to see the day-to-day state of the hotel. She was confident and had no reason to be nervous about the inspection.
Shortly after Hayden arrived in the lobby, three black cars pulled up in front of the hotel. Out of them stepped two men in suits who looked to be in their late forties to early fifties. Needless to say, they were the managers; they walked alongside Joseph into the hotel.
Hayden looked directly at Joseph and then thought of the fresh flowers in his office. He smiled sweetly and then nodded as he greeted, “Mr. Beckham.”
Mr. Brown greeted the other directors and then introduced them to Hayden, “I don’t have to introduce you to Mr. Beckham. These two gentlemen are Director Davis and Director Garcia. I don’t believe Miss Downey knows them.”
Hayden bowed softly and held out his hand for them to shake.
The two directors looked very stern, didn’t smile or say anything. They just said they wanted to see the hotel environment. Hayden arranged for two managers on duty to escort them while she followed, as she felt somewhat uncomfortable.
As the managers were looking around the suite, they started pointing and commenting on the color of the drapes. Joseph listened off to the side and nodded from time to time.
Hayden began jotting down his comments in a notebook. Although he didn’t know what it was for, he certainly knew he should remember what they said.
After the inspection, the managers wanted to hold a meeting in ten minutes with the middle and upper management of the hotel.
Mr. Brown went to set up the meeting while Hayden went back to his office to prepare some materials for the meeting. Just as he reached the door, he ran into Joseph, who had just come out of the bathroom.
Joseph looked at her and looked surprised as he said, “In a couple of days some VIPs will be coming in for discussions. If everything goes according to plan, they will be staying at this hotel. To prevent any incidents, we have come to inspect the surroundings.”noveldrama
Joseph hadn’t spoken to her since he said those harsh words to her in the hospital. He didn’t expect that Hayden didn’t seem to be affected by it, as if it didn’t even bother him.
“Special people stay here?” Hayden’s expression tensed, but he didn’t notice the changes in Joseph’s expression and asked, “So does that mean we’ll have to evict all the guests and increase security?”
“Indeed. The meeting later today will address this matter.”
Hayden nodded, pushed open his office door and said, “I’ll get some material and head immediately to the meeting.”
As he opened the door, the strong scent of roses wafted out. Joseph paused as he was about to leave and unconsciously glanced toward the rose-filled office.
He suddenly frowned sharply. So that was why she hadn’t even bothered about what had happened at the hospital. It seemed she had been very busy lately.
“About security…” Hayden said as she grabbed her materials, but then realized that Joseph wasn’t waiting for her at the door. She immediately felt uncomfortable, but luckily there was no one around. She coughed twice before walking toward the conference room.
The meeting went as Joseph said. The two directors came for the VIP visit. They emphasized the importance of safety and level of service. They also talked about the quality of the food.
“When will the VIPs arrive?”.
“Three days from now.”
“That’s too hasty. What are we going to do about the hotel guests?”. Hayden frowned and continued, “We can make alternative arrangements for those who haven’t checked in, but how are we going to evict the existing guests?”
Everyone present exchanged glances and realized this was a problem.
Within three days, they had to cancel the reservations of those already staying and convince those already staying to leave. That would infuriate the guests, as they would not want to deal with the hassle of changing hotels.
As everyone was commenting, a cold, haughty voice said above the din, “If you need to ask us how to handle such a simple matter, why do we need a person in charge of the hotel?”
What he said was direct and to the point. Everyone present was stunned and turned to look at Hayden sympathetically.
Hayden’s expression froze and he pursed his lips, “I understand, I will do my best to handle this properly.”
“Try not, you must do your best! When the group hired you to run this hotel, you must be clear that we didn’t hire you because of your fake resume.” Joseph said coldly and the chill in his eyes prevented anyone from looking directly at him.
He wanted to mention the dissatisfaction he had with his job performance, but, although he held back, he revealed the matter of his fake resume and his work experiences.
Hayden felt very embarrassed.
Everyone quickly dispersed after the meeting and Joseph left the hotel without saying a word to Hayden.
The hotel staff, standing by the entrance, sighed in relief as they watched Joseph and the two managers leave in the cars.
Jeff whispered to Hayden, “Ms. Downey, have you offended Mr. Beckham?”
Hayden frowned deeply and glared at Jeff, “Who knows? That lunatic.”
Wasn’t it absurd, he gave her flowers in the morning and then this was his behavior in the afternoon!
