The Day Our Promise Breaks

Chapter 445

"Bang-"

"Bang-"

After just a couple of attempts, Dahlia was already bleeding from her head,

dizziness blurring her vision.

"Dahlia!"

Charles rushed over to her side in long strides.

As he crouched down, Dahlia let go of the wheelchair that had been keeping her steady.

Without her hands for support, her legs gave way, and she collapsed into Charles's arms like a ragdoll.

Blood trickled down her forehead as she weakly whispered, "Charles..."

Her face was a haunting mess of blood and tears.

She feebly clutched Charles's arm. "Charles, don't get upset, I'm okay."

"For Sandy, I'd do anything. Even if it means groveling to Evelyn or trading my life, I'll do it willingly."

Her deep love for Sandy was unmistakable.

"Evelyn, can Adam save Sandy now? I've done everything you asked, knelt down, begged..."

Charles's expression changed at her words.

He looked grim, yet gently tried to lift Dahlia off the floor. She refused his help.

Staying put, she tearfully looked at Evelyn. "Isn't it enough? I'll keep bowing, as long as you save Sandy!"

As Dahlia spoke, she tried to bow again.

Charles quickly pulled her into his arms, stopping her from continuing.

"Charles, let me go. Let me bow to Evelyn. I have no choice. The doctor said the longer we wait, the riskier it gets. I can't lose Sandy..."

"Evelyn, I'm begging you, please have mercy and save Sandy..."

Dahlia struggled in Charles's embrace, crying and pleading, as if still bowing in spirit.

"Dahlia, it's no use!"

Charles held her tightly, looking up at Evelyn, meeting her icy gaze.

Despite Dahlia's desperate state, Evelyn remained unmoved.

Her hatred for Dahlia was so deep; even if Dahlia died here today, Evelyn wouldn't relent.

She just wanted to use this opportunity to humiliate and torment Dahlia. This was too much!

Charles firmly lifted Dahlia and set her back in the wheelchair.

His large hand pressed on her shoulder, stopping her from bowing again.

He looked at Evelyn, thinking of Sandy's condition, seeing Dahlia hurt herself for Sandy. His voice was

heavy, "Eve, the grudgesdoelen

adults shouldn't affect the

Sandy's innocent. She's only seven, the same age as Charlie...

Evelyn's eyes grew colder at the mention of Charlie alongside Sandy.

Adam acted swiftly, kicking towards Charles, and cursed:noveldrama

"Charles, are you even human? Comparing Sandy, that little

troublemaker, to the sweet and

lovely Charlie? Who are you trying to

disgust? Is she even worthy?"

"A child raised by a malicious mother isn't innocent! Only you, blinded by sentiment, would think so!"

"Innocent? Who repeatedly framed and hurt Charlie?"

"Charles, I can't wait for the day you see the true nature of this mother and daughter!"

Charles dodged Adam's kick with swift reflexes.

His expression darkened at Adam's harsh words about Sandy, but he held his anger in check.

He stopped negotiating with Evelyn and instead addressed Adam in a business- like manner, proposing a deal.

"Adam, if you agree to donate a kidney to Sandy, name your price. Whatever I can do, I will."

Charles knew how hurtful these words were to Evelyn.

But with Charlie gone, Sandy was a living, breathing child.

He couldn't just stand by and watch her die.

At first, his affection for Sandy stemmed from his feelings for Dahlia, feeling guilty

and wanting to care for her daughter.

But over time, as Sandy showed

it was clear she genuinely

affection, it

saw him as a father, and he truly

cherished her as his own for.
