The Double or more Life of the Fake Heiress (Mirabella)

Chapter 1746

"When did this happen?" Nick asked, caught off guard by the lack of news.

"Just a couple of days ago," Grady replied, his voice heavy with exhaustion. The whirlwind of events over the past few days had left him with no time to catch a break, the weariness clearly etched on his face.

A dangerous glint appeared in Nick's eyes. "Who attacked Chester?"

"An assassin group," Grady said.

Nick frowned. "That group has always kept a respectful distance from the Davis family. How dare they cross the line?"

"They were hired by someone. My men managed to catch one of them, but before we could get anything out of him, he took poison and died," Grady explained, rubbing his temples as if to ease the tension. "This isn't a simple case. I'm still digging into it."

Messing with the Davis family was no small affair.

Nick narrowed his eyes, making a swift decision. "I'll head back to Merrywoods tonight."

With Chester in trouble, the elders would probably jump at the chance to create chaos within the Davis family.

"What about your medical school commitments?"

Recalling the documents he'd seen earlier in the day, Nick replied, "I'll come up with an excuse to leave."

Grady considered it and nodded. The Davis family needed someone solid to keep things steady, and having Mr. Nick back would be reassuring.

"Alright, I'll make sure someone picks you up from the airport."

Nick nodded. "Oh, and Grady, about Mira..."

Grady anticipated his concern. "Don't worry. I've already arranged for someone to keep Miss Mira safe."

With that assurance, Nick felt a weight lift off his shoulders.

The call wrapped up quickly, and Nick wasted no time packing his bags.

**The next day, in Merrywoods, Nick's assistant promptly delivered the high school study materials to the hospital.

Cassie tore open the boxes with excitement but was stunned to find three entire boxes filled with review materials.

"All this study material?" Wyatt, who was keeping her company, was equally floored by the mountain of exam prep books.

Cassie's face twitched as she

recalled her sister's questions about school that morning. It clicked her sister had set her up! Cassie felt like she'd walked into a well-laid trap. Her sister was truly cunning!

"Wyatt, since we both have 'cloud' in our names, could you do me a favor?"

Cassie pleaded, trying to look as pitiful as possible.

Wyatt's instincts flared this couldn't be good. "Uh, what is it?"

"I want to go home. Like, now."

Wyatt's lips twitched, and he shook his head. "I can't help you there. That's a tall

order." He paused, then added, "Maybe ask James."

At the mention of James, Cassie

help but vent. "Seriously, as

of James, Cassie

doesn't have any

that just embarrassing"

"Ahem..." Wyatt glanced towards the door, suddenly quiet.

"My sister with her devious ways, aside from being pretty, she's flawed in every other way..." Cassie

grumbled, noticing Wyatt's frantic gestures. "Wyatt, what's up with you?"

Wyatt: "..."

Well, he had tried his best.

Hopefully, Cassie wouldn't end up in too deep.

Wyatt straightened up immediately, nodding respectfully towards the door, his

voice full of respect, "James, Ms. Mirabella."
