The Great Medical Saint

Chapter 817

Matthew asked, "But what?"noveldrama

Tony took a tissue from the table and wiped his tears. With a hint of regret, he remarked, "But the medical book and Octolith aren't with me. They're with my younger brother."

Younger brother?

Matthew breathed a long sigh of relief. He had been worried someone else would get their hands on the medical book first. Knowing the book and item were safe with Tony's own people put his mind at ease.

"In that case, why don't you bring me over to get them?"

With a conflicted look, Tony bit his lower lip. "My brother and I had a huge fallout. I swore I'd never see him again in this lifetime. But now..."

He furrowed his brows and kept quiet, clearly not keen on seeing his younger brother.

Matthew suddenly recalled something. "People told me that your brother took you to Khoitwood for treatment after you lost it. It shows he still cares about you. Sometimes, brothers fight, but they make up just as fast. Don't be so stubborn."

"Is that true?"

Tony was somewhat taken aback. After he lost it, he couldn't remember a lot of things.

Matthew earnestly stated, "The villagers of Suncroft Village told me that. When I was treating you, they said your brother took you to Khoitwood to get help from a famous doctor."

Tony snorted. "Our parents passed away early, so I raised him from a young age. I even got him a house and helped him get married. Good to know he's got a conscience."

Matthew still felt unsettled about it. "Do you think you can get the medical book and Octolith back?"

Tony snapped, "I was the one shutting him out. He'd bring gifts to see me, and I'd just throw them right back out. I even told him I'd never consider him my brother again. For the sake of retrieving Vital Restorative Remedies, I'll go see him this time. As long as he's still breathing, he ought to return the book to me. If not, I'll knock some sense into him."

Hearing Tony talk with such confidence, Matthew felt like a weight lifted off his chest.

After Tony finished his food, Matthew footed the bill. Then, he drove Tony to visit his younger brother.

Tony mentioned that his brother's name was Jay Carling, and he lived in Lambda City. It was a fancy neighborhood called Serenity Oaks Community.

On the way there, Matthew wanted to know more about Jay. "What's with your grudge against Jay? Did he do something?"

Tony was sitting quietly, feeling down. Upon hearing Matthew's question, he suddenly got worked up. He huffed. "Just bringing this up makes me furious. That idiot needs a good beating! He totally disgraced our family."

Watching Tony lose his cool, Matthew realized he had messed up and shouldn't have mentioned it at all.

As Matthew tried to change the subject and steer Tony's attention, Tony erupted in exasperation, "Jay is a real piece of work. I put my marriage plans on hold for him. Eventually, I just gave up on ever getting married. He has two sons and one daughter. All the money I made from practicing medicine went straight to him.

"I was worried that if I died, my medical skills would go to waste, so I passed everything on to Jay and his children. Vital Restorative Remedies and Octolith are in his hands too. I wanted them to become doctors who helped people in need. But guess what? Jay sent all his children abroad to Eastoria, saving the lives of those bastards.

"Our father died early because he had a piece of shrapnel in his body from the war. It never got taken out, and it led to his early death. The Eastorians are the ones who killed our father.

"Those fools aren't even thinking about avenging our father and are out there helping them out instead. They're nothing but disgraceful. These ungrateful Carlings are unbelievable."

The more Tony ranted, the angrier he became. His voice just kept getting louder. At this point, he was practically shaking with rage, and his emotions were out of control.

Matthew finally understood why Tony got so worked up. He had stayed single his whole life, raising Jay and Jay's three children. But they ended up working for people who took his father from him.

Sure enough, no one could handle it.

Tony just kept going and got more riled up. "Jay is nothing but trouble. He bought

a nice villa and fancy cars, living the high society life.

"Despite everything, he's adamant about sending his kids overseas, saying things like they'll have more freedom and more opportunities. He even claimed that traditional medicine is well-received over there.

"I couldn't seem to get through to him, as if he had been put under a spell. The Carling family is cursed with bad luck to have someone like him. Honestly, I won't be able to face our father in the afterlife."
