Chapter 287
Tiffany quickly regained her composure, her expression calm and unbothered like nothing had happened at all.
Lucas glanced at Evelyn again, his gaze lingering for half a second before he said coolly, "We'll go over the details after the event."
Sebastian narrowed his eyes and smiled. "Sure."
If they won the bid, everything would need to be clearly sorted and divided anyway.
Lucas nodded, then turned to leave with Tiffany.
As they walked away, Sebastian leaned in slightly and muttered with a trace of wonder, "Gotta say, Lucas really surprised me. We asked for complete lead control, with Flying Seal Group as the primary party and Arrowpoint Solutions as the secondary party, and he agreed to everything."
He clicked his tongue in disbelief.noveldrama
Arrowpoint Solutions clearly just wanted to use this bid to make a name for themselves. In terms of profit, Lucas barely asked for anything.
Evelyn thought for a moment. "He's probably planning something bigger."
Lucas was a calculating man. Even if the terms favored Flying Seal Group now, she knew better than to fully let her guard down.
Just then, another group approached from the front. Sebastian clearly recognized them and motioned for Evelyn to follow him.
"Mr. Hill, it's been a while," said the man leading the group. Jeremy Harmon was one of the government-appointed judges for the bidding panel.
Sebastian greeted him with a friendly smile.
Jeremy noticed Evelyn beside him. "And who is this?"
Evelyn offered a polite smile. "Hello, I'm Evelyn, an engineer at Flying Seal Group."
Jeremy gave her a once-over, visibly surprised at Evelyn's age. He knew that anyone allowed into this bidding room today had to be top-tier from their respective companies.
He glanced at the officials standing beside him. With Sebastian right there, he casually shifted into a few technical topics to test the waters, wanting to get a read on Flying Seal Group's capabilities.
Sebastian chuckled and turned to Evelyn. "What do you think?"
Evelyn immediately understood his intent and stepped in without hesitation.
She began discussing sensor fusion technology and flight control systems in a calm and steady tone. She paced herself just right. As she spoke, her refined features seemed to glow with quiet brilliance. Every answer was clear, confident, and remarkably insightful.
Jeremy, initially neutral, quickly grew more and more intrigued. By the end, he couldn't help but study her again.
He had expected her to be promising, but this? Her technical depth and perspective were razor sharp. She was immensely forward-thinking. Impressive, even by expert standards.
Not far away, Lucas, who had been chatting with a few others, also noticed the shift in energy at their end of the room. He turned his head to look over.
Tiffany had caught bits of the discussion too. A few specialized technical terms reached her ears, and she frowned slightly.
Evelyn was discussing that level of engineering detail? She hadn't expected that.
Her brows pinched faintly. It seemed Sebastian had made thorough preparations. He was clearly determined to showcase Evelyn today. Pushing her into the spotlight like this? He was certainly putting in the effort.
From what little she overheard, Tiffany could only recognize a few basic industry concepts, terms she had come across before. It made her wonder if Sebastian had prepared Evelyn with a script beforehand. Or did she memorize it just to impress the judges?
The thought made her frown in disbelief. Evelyn was trying way too hard.
Tiffany scoffed silently and glanced up at Lucas, ready to nudge his attention back, only to find that his gaze was still fixed on Evelyn.
He looked completely relaxed with his arms loosely folded and his eyes watching her steadily. Just for a second, the corners of his lips seemed to tug into the faintest smile.
Tiffany thought she might've imagined it. She softly called his name, "Lucas?" Lucas looked down at her, his eyes calm and unreadable. "Yeah?"
She realized then that maybe she had been mistaken. She shook her head. "Nothing. Let's go find our seats. It's getting loud here."
She didn't elaborate on why it felt loud.
She didn't like drawing attention in rooms full of senior industry figures. No matter how capable she was, she was still young. When it came to certain deep technical fields, she knew she still had a long road ahead. She preferred to move forward step by step, one solid footing at a time.
Not to mention, it wasn't like Lucas and Tiffany were trying to show off.
What do you think?
