The Queen Returns—And She's Unforgiving

Chapter 68

Lucas' reaction made one thing clear. As long as it was something Tiffany wanted —whether it was the stars, the moon, or something that wasn't his to give-Lucas would make sure she got it.

That was the kind of confidence Tiffany had.

Evelyn felt her hands and feet grow ice-cold. Was Lucas really planning to buy the house for Tiffany?

Even if Tiffany wanted to take something that belonged to her and Deborah, would he still stand by her side?

No matter when or where, his first choice was always Tiffany.

Evelyn met his deep gaze head-on. "What you choose to give her is your

business. But whether I sell or not is my choice."

Tiffany narrowed her eyes. So that was a firm no.

Mason frowned.

Evelyn was really willing to throw away millions just to make a point?

Lucas smirked lazily. "Suit yourself. Just make sure you think it through."

He got up, stepping past Evelyn without another glance.

Tiffany and Mason followed one after the other.

As Tiffany left, she shot Evelyn a look-half amusement, half ridicule before walking out the door.

The real estate agent, however, was panicking. "Ms. Reed, you should really think about this! That's Lucas! Money's not an issue for him. He's literally house-hunting with his wife! Do you really want to pass up an offer like this?"

Evelyn barely heard him. Her body moved numbly toward the exit. She felt like she had been slapped hard across the face because she knew what Lucas meant by those last words.

Even if she refused now, he would find a way to make her agree.noveldrama

...

At the entrance, her gaze dropped to the ground, unfocused.

Of all the places to choose, why did Millie specifically want Deborah's house? Did she not know that was their family home? Of course, she knew. She knew exactly what she was doing.

Years ago, when Naomi was still alive, she had taken Millie in, offering her shelter during a difficult time.

For two months, she had lived under their roof. That was the first real taste of wealth she had ever experienced.

She had come from a poor, rural town. Studying art had been expensive, and her parents had spent everything they had-selling assets, taking out loans—just to fund her education.

When she met Naomi, she had been given opportunities she could never have dreamed of. A helping hand, a stepping stone to a better life.

And in the end, the first person she betrayed was the woman who had helped her. Evelyn's stomach twisted.

After all these years, the first thing she did upon returning was to set her sights on their home.

Evelyn wasn't even thinking about the money anymore. She was terrified that if Lucas took matters into his own hands, he would go directly to Deborah and tell her everything, exposing the truth about the divorce and his affair.

And worst of all, the fact that the woman who had once betrayed Naomi was about to take everything from them.

Would Deborah be able to handle such a blow?

Evelyn felt completely alone. Her vision blurred. Pain stabbed at her abdomen, sharp and unrelenting. She took a few steps forward, but her legs felt weak.

A wave of dizziness crashed over her, and before she could react, she passed out.

"Careful!"

A deep, concerned voice sounded in her ear.

Jason took a quick step forward, catching Evelyn just before she collapsed.

Feeling her icy-cold skin, he immediately shrugged off his thick coat and wrapped

it around her. His expression darkened as he scooped her up.

"What's wrong with her?" Fiona ran up, her eyes wide with concern.

Jason's jaw clenched. "We're taking her to the hospital."

Fiona hurried after them, climbing into the car and pulling Evelyn into her arms as Jason drove.

At the hospital, Jason carried Evelyn straight inside, his long strides urgent. Fiona, trailing behind, suddenly paused. Something made her hesitate. Then, she lifted her phone and snapped a photo of Jason's back as he carried Evelyn down the hallway.

Jason didn't know what was wrong with Evelyn. But he knew she was in bad shape. She was far too light-like she weighed nothing at all.

The only thing he could do was make sure the doctors checked everything.

"Run all the tests," he told them. "Whatever needs to be done."

The doctor nodded and handed him a long list of tests.

As the nurses moved Evelyn to begin examinations, Jason sat nearby, his fingers tapping impatiently against the armrest.

Minutes passed before a nurse appeared. "The results are ready. You can go pick up the report now."

Jason stood immediately as it was time to collect the test results.
