Chapter 69
"Why is security calling me at this hour?" Scott frowned but answered the call.
"Commander Hopkins, Sawyer has escaped! His starship is closest to your location. Please intercept him!"
"Escaped? How?" Scott's expression darkened.
"It was my mistake," the voice on the other end hesitated for a moment. "We hadn't gotten far from the Ironhorn Alliance when we encountered a fleet of starships. They looked just like the Stormclaw Alliance's ships, so I assumed they
were yours.
"Once the starship connected, I saw you, or at least, I thought I did. Looking back, it must have been your twin brother. It's been five years since his last escape. I never expected him to show up so suddenly, so when he asked for the prisoner... I handed him over."
The person on the other end sighed. "It's my fault for being careless and not verifying things properly."
"I was originally part of the Ironhorn Alliance. It wouldn't have seemed strange for me to suddenly
show up and ask for the prisoner."
Scott clenched his fist unconsciously as a face identical to his own flashed through his mind.
"Don't worry. I'll go after him now."
"Good. I'll work with you to capture Sawyer... and your brother, Sean."
Scott's serious tone sent a ripple of tension through Analise.
Earlier, he had muttered about why the security force was calling him at this hour before answering the phone. Now, Analise could hear that someone had escaped.
It had to be Sawyer.
Meanwhile, Analise could see Finlay's interface.
However, the moment Finlay saw who had sent the message, he quickly turned off his device. Yet, the notification sound kept ringing.
"Why not check your messages?" Analise raised an eyebrow, resting a hand on his shoulder. "We can read them together. If you're unsure how to reply, I can give you some suggestions."
"No!" Finlay rejected the idea immediately at the mention of suggestions.
"Haha, it's nothing important. Just a salesperson, I added before," he said, rubbing his nose and avoiding her gaze. "They're probably trying to sell me something new."
"Alright, if it's something good, you should buy it," Analise teased, smiling as she decided to stop messing with her adorable little Wolfie.
Still, for a brief moment, she'd caught a glimpse of one of the messages flashing across Finlay's screen.
"Just use your charm! You can't let a guy you just met outshine you, can you?"
It was clear who had been advising Finlay.
As long as they weren't bad people, it didn't matter.
"Ana, you should rest. I'll take charge from here. Sawyer escaped, and the
security team asked me to help intercept him."
Scott glanced at Analise, then at Finlay. "Stay with Ana, just in case."
Finlay gave a nod.
Inside a small villa in Stormclaw Alliance City, a fox-eared, fox-tailed male lay sprawled across the lap of a slightly plump female. Suddenly, he sneezed.
"Achoo!"
She gently stroked his tail, her voice carrying a hint of playful annoyance. "Caught a cold? I told you it was only just starting to warm up, butyou insisted on going into the forest..."
"No, it just got itchy all of a sudden. Maybe that kid is badmouthing me." Then, his expression softened as he added, "It's a good thing you didn't catch a cold, Abigail. As long as you're okay."
Lifting his head, he nuzzled against her neck. "I just wanted to make you happy.
You said you wanted to go to the forest before, didn't you?"
He glanced up, carefully studying her expression. "Are you mad at me?"noveldrama
"I'm worried about you." Abigail couldn't help but press a soft kiss to his lips when
she saw his pitiful expression. "You're not in the best of health, you know."
But instead of reassuring her, the man took advantage of her tenderness, deepening the kiss until he stole her breath away. By the time he finally let her go, she was gasping for air.
With reddened eyes and an aggrieved look, he murmured, "I'm fine... as long as you're happy."
"You..." Abigail let out a helpless sigh before deliberately pinching his tail a little harder.
"Mmm... Abigail, that hurts a little." His fox-like tail twitched before curling around her arm.
"Stop that!" She quickly pulled away. "Isn't your little buddy waiting for you to give him advice on how to pursue a girl?"
What do you think?
