Chapter 1842
Moss let out a quiet snort and then slowly rose.
He gently covered Melon with the blanket, careful not to wake him.
Melon didnt stir, lost in the embrace of sleep.
A glint of metal caught Moss eye-a dagger, lying within easy reach.
He picked it up, its weight familiar in his hand.
His expression hardened as he looked from the blade to the sleeping Melon.
For a long moment, he stood motionless, lost in thought.noveldrama
Then, with deliberate slowness, Moss raised the dagger, aiming it at Melon.
In the dead of night, Melon was jolted awake by the potent smell of blood.
The violent images from the days gunfight flashed through his mind, causing him to sit up abruptly in bed, gasping for air. Instinctively, Melon reached out for Moss beside him, only to discover the bed cold and empty.
Panicked, he called out into the darkness, Moss! At that moment, a clicking sound filled the room, and the room was suddenly flooded with bright Light.
Melon squinted against the abrupt brightness just as he heard Moss annoyed voice, saying, Why are you shouting? Relieved to hear Moss, Melon quickly looked in the direction of Moss voice.
He spotted Moss sitting in a chair, shirtless, removing the bandages from his shoulder and tossing them onto a table.
He was extracting a bullet from his shoulder with a knife.
Blood flowed freely, and his forehead was lined with bulging veins.
Yet he bit his lip, refusing to make a sound.
Melon was stunned, unsure if he was awake or dreaming.
Soon realizing it was all real, Melon grabbed some tissues from the table and tiptoed over to Moss, his face alight with relief.
Thank goodness, youre alive.
I thought you might have died today. Why are you standing so close? Step back, Moss said.
Didnt Melon see that he was removing a bullet with a knife? Melon was standing dangerously close as if he had no fear of the knife potentially harming him.
Startled by Moss stern rebuke, Melon stumbled backward a couple of steps, still holding the tissues, his young face filled with concern.
I… I saw you sweating a lot and just wanted to help wipe it off.
After Melon said this, his expression turned to one of hurt.
His eyes turned red with tears.
He didnt know why Moss was being so harsh to him.
Moss realized he might have been too harsh.
Regret flickered in his eyes, and he slightly softened his tone. How many times have I told you not to cry so easily? Also, bring me the disinfectant wipes from the table.
Melon wiped away his tears and obediently fetched a box of disinfectant wipes from the table, handing it to Moss.
After Moss cleaned the wound, Melon followed his instructions and gathered medical needles, thread, and scissors from the cluttered table.
Moss sewed up his wound without any anesthesia, remaining silent despite the pain.
He even paused to critique the unattractiveness of his stitching, done single-handedly.
Watching from the side, Melon repeatedly gasped, his face contorting in sympathy.
He couldnt help but think that although Moss could be harsh, he was undeniably brave and clever.
He really admired Moss.
If only Moss hadnt kidnapped him… Noticing Melons shocked face, Moss said, Scared? Before Melon could respond, Moss continued, Youre a smart kid, but youre a scaredy-cat and a crybaby.
What do you think?
