Your Love Is But a Dream (Clara and Wren)

Chapter 267

Carlisle glanced briefly at Robert and said coldly, "As for them, they messed up and caused you trouble. I'll take care of them when we get back."

Robert felt a shiver down his spine and immediately lowered his head.

Carlisle scoffed before turning his attention back to Katrina. He reached out to touch her face, but his smile was unsettling. "Since you refuse to go with them, I'll take you home myself. Perhaps that will help calm you down."

Katrina stared at him, but she couldn't recognize the person he once was.

Perhaps Carlisle had forgotten what he once did to win her over.

At that time, he was no longer young. He had already taken control of Zachman Group, securing his place at the heart of power. There was something undeniably compelling about a man in such a position, especially when he was willing to humble himself for her.

He had once gone so far as to publicly humble himself to win her affection. He had carried her shoes in front of everyone just to please her. He was truly willing to lower himself to win her over.

However, Katrina couldn't help but feel that his attempt to personally take her home now seemed more like a favor that she was expected to be grateful for. If she refused, it would only make her appear ungrateful.

Katrina gave a bitter smile. The difference between love and indifference had never been more obvious. For all these years, she had been fooling herself.

When Carlisle saw her sarcastic smile, his expression darkened, and his smile faded completely. All that remained in his eyes was a cold impatience. Just as he was about to speak, a car suddenly pulled up to the police station. The blinding headlights momentarily flashed in his eyes.

He instinctively raised his hand to shield his eyes.

Katrina quickly shook off the hand that had remained on her shoulder and looked toward the approaching car. Her eyes flickered as she instantly recognized it.

The car came to a stop, and the door opened. A young woman in a professional suit stepped out and walked swiftly toward Katrina.

"Ms. Caldwell," Teressa greeted, scanning Katrina to ensure she was unharmed.

Upon seeing Carlisle, her expression shifted to one of confusion.

Had Katrina contacted him, after all?

As Katrina's secretary, Teressa knew a few things about her marriage. Katrina was private and didn't talk much about her personal life.

Then, she turned to Katrina and asked, "Ms. Caldwell, what happened? Why are you at the police station so late?"

Katrina hadn't had time to explain everything to Teressa earlier. Now that things had escalated this. far, there was no point in explaining.

"It's all sorted," she said, looking exhausted.

Teressa's expression softened with guilt. "Sorry, Ms. Caldwell. I'm late."

Katrina shook her head and smiled. "It's not your fault. I'm sorry for dragging you
