Chapter 277
When James saw Carlisle come out, he respectfully called out, "Mr. Zachman."
Carlisle paused for a moment before turning around and glancing at Katrina. He didn't say anything but then turned to James and ordered, "Take good care of Mrs. Zachman. I'll come by in the morning to have breakfast with her.
"Have the maids prepare more of her favorite foods. If Mrs. Zachman needs anything, inform me immediately."
"Yes, Mr. Zachman," James replied.
Carlisle averted his gaze and walked past James, heading downstairs to leave.
"Carlisle, wait!" Katrina called out, trying to follow him, but James stepped in her way.
"Mrs. Zachman, Mr. Zachman asked that you stay here and rest. If you need anything, feel free to ask the housekeepers, and they'll bring it to you," James said calmly, pretending not to notice the urgency on Katrina's face.
Katrina wanted to tell him to move, but seeing James' firm stance, she knew it was futile.
Soon after, she heard the sound of a car engine outside.
Carlisle was gone.
Katrina clenched her fists in frustration. She stared at James, whose professional smile remained in place as he blocked the door. With a sharp thud, she slammed the door shut, cutting off her view of him.
Turning around, she began to inspect the room carefully. It didn't seem like there were any surveillance devices. She let out a small sigh of relief and rushed to the window, hoping to find a way to escape.
The villa was taller than regular houses, and she was on the second floor. Katrina leaned out of the window, calculating that if she jumped, she would either break something or get seriously hurt.
Before she could finish the thought, she saw the guards patrolling outside and the red lights flashing in the night. She quickly realized those red lights were cameras.
A wave of disappointment hit her. James had been right. If she tried to escape, she would be caught long before reaching the gates.
With a heavy heart, Katrina closed the window, slumping onto the bed in frustration.
She touched her forehead where Carlisle had kissed her earlier, grimacing as she rubbed it off. Her mind raced, thinking of how to escape her current situation.
After a restless night, Carlisle's face showed a hint of fatigue. The car stopped outside the Zachman residence. Carlisle got out and walked inside alone.
At this hour, the maids had all gone to bed. However, the lights were still on in the villa. As Carlisle entered, he saw a familiar figure sitting on the living room couch.
He paused for a moment and asked in surprise, "It's late. Why aren't you asleep?" Shirley was resting her head on her hand, half-asleep on the couch. When she heard Carlisle's voice, she snapped to attention and immediately stood up.
"Carlisle, you're back?" she asked, walking toward him. Her voice was filled with surprise, but there was a trace of reproach and complaint. "Where have you been? I've been
waiting for you all night, and you didn't come home."
After returning from Zachman Group, she had felt uneasy. She wanted to wait for Carlisle to return towa to get a sense of his mood.

the maids informed her thatCarlisle
wouldn't be home for dinner.
She assumed Carlisle had some work event and decided to wait a little longer, thinking he would eventually return home to rest. However, as the night wore on, she still hadn't seen him.
Her unease grew stronger, and she couldn't help but feel that Carlisle wasn't coming back because he had gone to find Katrina. How could she
possibly sleep with that thought lingering in her mind?
What do you think?
