The CEO’s little ones

Chapter 104

Chapter 104:.

Hayden felt incompetent to refuse again. After giving her number, the lady then gave a big smile of joy.

How could anyone think that she was the one who had cheated the Beckham Family and taken the fortune?

Hayden was puzzled, but still managed to contain her curiosity.noveldrama

“I’m off then.” Hayden poured the noodles from the pot, added some toppings and nodded politely to the boss.

After going upstairs and setting the noodles aside, Joseph came out of the bathroom, wrapped in a bathrobe. His hair was still wet and the bathroom door was streaked with water spots.

Hayden felt a slight lump in his throat. He pulled himself together after a while and let out a dry cough, “Have some noodles. I made them myself in the kitchen.”

Joseph looked at her and looked at the noodles again, nodding.

When he sat down on the couch, Hayden felt uncomfortable and moved aside.

Inside the room there was only the sound of Hayden slurping and eating the noodles. It wasn’t too noisy since it was pouring rain outside. She felt warm and fuzzy hearing it.

Hayden held her breath for some inexplicable reason. When she realized Joseph wasn’t noticing her, she secretly lowered her head and exhaled.

“You sleep in the bed tonight.” Joseph vociferated.

Hayden was stunned for a moment as Joseph’s words came like a bolt out of the blue. “Really?”

“Sure.” His voice was gravelly, with a sense of the ridiculous, he seemed to have forgotten his displeasure of a moment ago.

Hayden was delighted and felt dignified for having made him the noodles, as she would be able to sleep well tonight. But she was elated and didn’t realize that the bed was supposed to be hers to sleep in.

Joseph was perplexed, contemplating her flattering look – did Hayden really think he would let her sleep on the couch?

The environment had become more relaxing. Hayden was in a good mood and offered, “Let me help you with the couch. I just laid down on it, the length of the couch is ideal and it’s also more comfortable than the bed.”

Joseph frowned, seeing her expression he said, “How about sleeping on this comfortable couch?”.

“Please, no.” Hayden declined sharply, smiling, “I’d take the bed. After all, a man like you must be a gentleman, right?”.

As she said, he walked toward the bed as he stretched.

“Aren’t you going to take a shower?” Joseph asked.

Hayden stopped in her tracks, feeling uncomfortable. After a long moment, she said stiffly behind Joseph’s back, “Yes, of course I am. I’m just taking my clothes.”

She had no intention of showering in case other problems arose. But Joseph meant it, and would consider her careless if she refused to bathe.

The sound of the splashing water coming from the bath was so soothing and warm. While the stormy rains outside the window were torrential and cold, the lights in the room seemed exceedingly soft under the circumstances.

Joseph finished the noodles quietly. He pulled up the blanket and lay down on the couch.

After a while, the bathroom door slowly opened. Hayden tiptoed out of the bathroom in a long-sleeved shirt and pants. She was relieved when she saw Joseph sleeping soundly on the couch.

It was better to be safe than sorry. Hayden still didn’t know what was going through Joseph’s mind despite knowing him for so long. And he had no idea if he would get beastly at any moment.

He crawled into bed and turned off the night lamp. Silence filled the room.

The next morning dawned sunny after a heavy overnight rain.

Hayden had packed and headed to the front desk to check out. As he was about to leave, he glanced outside and saw Joseph in the car. He was holding the steering wheel, staring straight ahead and looking serious.

He got into the car as if he had just gotten out this morning, eager not to stay at this inn any longer.

“Here’s your ID card.” The receptionist handed the ID card back to Hayden.

“Wait.”

Hayden was about to leave when the chief yelled.

The chief came running out of the kitchen with a container wrapped in blue cloth and handed it to Hayden, “You haven’t had breakfast yet. It’s still a long way to N City, take this on the way.”

Hayden hesitated, and knew the boss was up to something. But seeing the woman’s sincere look, he accepted it.

It was a smooth ride as the road conditions were good despite last night’s storm.

They drove out of town on the highway. Joseph stopped at the rest area to go to the restroom. When he returned, he saw Hayden opening a container. Inside was rice and salsa accompanied by a tortilla and strip steak.

It looked very tempting.

Joseph glanced at it, “When did you buy it?”

“This morning in town. There’s a place that sells this kind of food, do you want some?”. Hayden tossed a piece of steak and held it close to Joseph’s mouth. And looked at him expectantly.

Joseph frowned for a moment and guessed where it was from.

He couldn’t help but open his mouth when he saw his actions.

Hayden shoved the steak into his mouth roughly, “Tasty, isn’t it?”.

Joseph chewed a few bites before swallowing it and said, “Normal.”

“What do you mean, normal? It’s succulent.” Hayden also tried a piece, “This almost matches the level of the western chef at the ST Hotel. It must be a hit for them to open a Western restaurant.”

“She used to have a Western restaurant. No big deal.” Joseph said, and his face suddenly stiffened.

Hayden looked at him and said awkwardly, “Did you know who did this?”.

Joseph started the car without even looking at her and said, “I’ve never seen anyone selling fast food with an international brand container.”

Hayden then looked at the container and saw a well-known logo imprinted on it.

He sighed quietly, still thinking about his words from a moment ago.

Joseph knew who cooked this, but he still ate it. That meant he didn’t hold a grudge against his mother after all.

“The boss was just being nice. And it actually tastes delicious.” Hayden muttered under his breath.

“If this is the reason you feel justified, why lie right now?”

“Wasn’t it because you were upset with the dumplings she made last night? If I told you she made them, would you eat them anyway?” Hayden pursed his lips, feeling guilty.

He felt guilty for setting himself up .
