Chapter 106
Chapter 106:.
Hayden was stunned and verified, “Did you say your name was Benjamin?”.
The young man lifted his head from under the blanket and his face was pale. His forehead was covered with beads of sweat and he struggled to nod, “Yes.”
“What’s your last name?” Hayden asked.
The young man shook his head.
“Forget it, don’t think about it now.” Hayden patted his shoulders, he was worried he’d hurt himself if he suddenly remembered something, and continued, “So you’re Benjamin, at least you have a name now. I’ll try to find your family.”
If Benjamin was a university student, then it would be a problem because it was close to summer vacation and the university would hardly notice if someone was missing. He could only investigate on his own.
A week later…
Kindergarten was officially on summer vacation.
Hayden went to the end-of-semester parent meeting and, as expected, ran into Joseph and Noah. As soon as Noah saw her, he ran to hug her leg. Although he didn’t speak, his joy showed clearly on his tender, cute face.
Things between Hayden and Joseph became closer after that night in GX City. They both left behind the period when they ignored each other, kept their work separate from their private lives, and things seemed to be going well for them. But only they knew that each was wondering about the other’s intentions.
“Mom, can I stay at Noah’s house during summer vacation?” Stella tugged on Hayden’s sleeve and brought her back to herself.
Hayden didn’t hesitate and replied, “Of course.”
“Really?” Stella had prepared a long list of reasons to convince her mother, but she hadn’t expected her mother to have agreed so easily. It looked like things between Mom and Mr. Beckham were looking up!
Noah was also very happy and was smiling radiantly.
“Can Stella stay at your house for the summer for a while? The two kids can play together. That will help me, too, who has to work.” Hayden looked pleasantly at Joseph.
Joseph smiled and was very quiet: “Of course. You can also come and stay to spend time with the children.”
“Me? That’s not necessary.” Hayden started to blush and tried to hide her thoughts.
She had her reasons. She wanted Stella and Noah to spend more time together, since they were siblings. Although she couldn’t reveal this now, her heart warmed every time they played together.

“So you’ve found a place to stay?” Joseph asked in passing to change the subject and break the awkwardness.
“Yes, I’ve found it. I’m going to the hospital later today to have Benjamin discharged and then I’ll take him to the new place.”
Two days ago, Chelsea suddenly called her and told her that she had returned the house in Jinshui Village area, she told Hayden to keep the house. Hayden didn’t think much of it, but the next day he found a set of keys in Alayna’s mailbox.
“You’re going to take that kid to stay with you?” Joseph’s expression darkened.
“The doctors have said he can be discharged. I haven’t found out what college he was from, I can only take him to stay at my house.”
“No.” Joseph coldly refused, “Hayden, don’t you think it’s inappropriate for you to take a grown man to stay at your house?”
Inappropriate? What was I thinking? To think he could think in those regards.
“I don’t have a choice.” Hayden waved his hands, “I can’t send him to the community hospital, what if something were to happen to him?”
“Then let him stay at the hotel.”
“Oh?” Hayden puzzled, “Stay at the hotel? What hotel?”
“The ST Hotel.” Joseph looked at her and coughed awkwardly, “Since this accident happened when you were on a business trip, then the ST Hotel will have a room for you to stay for a while. This is not your responsibility and the hotel will assume responsibility.”
“Is this appropriate? I was the one who hit him.” Hayden said.
“It is appropriate since I said so.” Joseph then called Magnus to get a room for Benjamin to stay in.
The call was simple, to the point, and resolved in three minutes. The call was over before Hayden realized what was going on.noveldrama
The parent meeting was over and Noah was still clinging to Hayden. When he heard that Hayden was going to the hospital, he started to indicate that he wanted to go too and Hayden agreed when he saw that Joseph didn’t object.
Benjamin had already been in the hospital for a week and seemed to be enjoying his stay. In the first two days, he still had some post-traumatic depression, but had since improved considerably. Now, other than keeping to himself, he seemed to have returned to normal to the point that when Joseph visited him, he began to suspect if he was faking his condition.
Hayden had left the patient’s room to sort out discharge paperwork and the two children cheerfully left with her. Joseph and Benjamin remained in the room staring at each other.
“Have you recovered?” Joseph asked.
Benjamin nodded quietly, “I am well now thanks to Miss Downey’s care and concern.”
“I see you’ve made a full recovery. So, why are you still around?”
Joseph looked at him deeply as if he could see through a person.
“I haven’t recovered my memory.” Benjamin was unfazed and looked directly at Joseph as he responded tidily, “The doctor said the blood clots in the brain have cleared. That’s why my memory is in patches, I’m afraid I have to trouble Miss Downey to take care of me a while longer so I can get my memories back.”
“How do you want me to take care of you?” Joseph asked.
“It seems this matter does not concern you.” Benjamin replied.
Joseph looked coldly at Benjamin and said, “The extent of your needs will determine the arrangements I make for you. Do I have to arrange for a person to care for you?”.
Benjamin was stunned for a moment and asked, “What do you mean?”
Before Joseph could answer him, Hayden pushed open the door after completing the discharge formalities and said, “Come on, what are you talking about?”
“I told you the hotel is better than here.” Joseph got up from the couch, dusted himself off and hurried over.
Half an hour later, Benjamin checked into a suite on the upper level of the ST Hotel.
Upon seeing him, Benjamin’s expression changed and he asked Hayden, “Didn’t you say I’d be staying at your place?”
The hotel staff was still present and from their expressions, Hayden realized what Joseph said about being ‘inappropriate’. She awkwardly explained, “Benjamin, I was thinking that it is in fact inappropriate for you to stay with me. I normally work at this hotel and it would be convenient for me to see how you are doing if you stay here. You can contact me during the day if you need anything.”
“I…”
“Magnus, show him to the room.” Joseph interrupted Benjamin.
Magnus understood Joseph’s instructions and quickly dragged Benjamin inside the suite. He then explained to him in detail all the gadgets and amenities of the room.
