David was speechless, but he realized that it was indeed how reality worked. Then, he asked instinctively, "That's right. What right do you have to do that?"

Having heard that, Orion displayed a ferocious expression and glared at him fiercely. "I don't have the right, but that's just how reality works. There's nothing you can do about it. I've got money, status, and people backing me up, so I can make you suffer and die if you so much as provoke me."

David clenched his jaw when he heard what Orion said. His face twisted in fury, and he felt as if his chest was about to explode from all the rage he felt.

Still, the rationality in his mind kept him in check as he reminded himself, "Hold it in. You gotta hold it in, or you'll be dead if you end up provoking him. You can't leave your daughter alone with all your debts, so you gotta hold it in!"noveldrama

Seeing how tightly David was gritting his teeth, Orion pursed his lips and scoffed. Then, he turned toward Matthew and asked, "Do you have a budget of 500 grand?"

Matthew answered icily, "Yes!"

His reply was brief and prompt because Matthew was afraid that he'd lose control and end up hitting Orion if he spoke anymore. He had seen all sorts of bullies before, but he had never seen such an unscrupulous person who bullied others. Orion then nodded and said, "If that's the case, you can come inside."

After he said that, he opened the door, and Matthew walked right in. Behind him, David hesitated for a moment before he followed Matthew in as well.

However, Orion stretched his arm out to stop him. "He's the one who's buying the stone tablet, so he can come in. But not you."

Before David could speak, however, Matthew stepped in and said, "He's the one who dug up the stone tablet, so he's definitely seen it. I'll get him to verify its authenticity, and I'll only make my purchase if he says that the stone tablet is genuine."

Matthew didn't wish to say that David was here just to help him carry the stone tablet out because he wanted to protect David's dignity and earn some respect back for David after Orion's insults.

Orion was a little taken aback when he heard that, but it sounded reasonable, so he could only say reluctantly, "You can come in, then."

Afterward, he led the way and brought them both into his living room. David followed behind Matthew and looked at Matthew with a grateful gaze.

Once they entered the living room, Matthew noticed two other people sitting on the couch. Both of them looked to be in their mid-30s, and Matthew merely took a glance at them before sitting on the other couch Orion had arranged for him.

Orion seemed to have moved on from all of the unpleasant interactions at the door earlier. Then, he turned to the other two strangers in the room and said, "I apologize for the inconvenience, Mr. Kaisen He's also here to buy the stone tablet, so I've switched up the rules a little.

"Since you're not satisfied with the price I set, why don't the both of you hash it out? I'll sell the stone tablet to the person who offers a higher price."

When Matthew heard Orion referring to the other person as Mr. Kaiser, he raised his brows. The stranger was an Eastorian!

The man who was wearing a white button-up seemed to have grown unhappy and said a little rigidly, "Buddy, it's not right for you to do this... is it?"

Orion then cleared his throat and said, "This is how I do business. The person who offers a higher price wins. The current price is 500 grand, so how much would you like to offer?"

Rodrick Kaiser took a glance at Matthew and sized him up a little. Afterward, he answered confidently, "I'll offer 500 thousand and one dollars!"

Seeing how simple Matthew's clothes were, Rodrick assumed that Matthew wasn't exactly rich. He figured that he would easily come out as the victor in the end.

Orion displayed a slight smile and acknowledged his offer. He was secretly delighted for pitting two wealthy customers to fight it out so that he could gain the most out of it.

Then, he turned toward Matthew and asked, "How much would you like to offer now that the price has risen to 500 thousand and one dollars?"

Matthew then threw out a number without hesitation. "I offer 600 grand!"

Orion smiled in glee and turned to look at Rodrick, asking, "Do you want to raise your offer?"
